An exterior shell for an armored cab having a longitudinal axis and a transverse axis is provided. The exterior shell has a right side panel extending parallel to the longitudinal axis, a left side panel extending parallel to the longitudinal axis, and a rear panel extending parallel to the transverse axis. A cab lower surface extends between the right side panel and the left side panel. The cab lower surface has a center tunnel extending along the longitudinal axis with an exterior curvature having a variable radius as the center tunnel extends along the transverse axis of the exterior shell. The center tunnel is configured to act as a pressure vessel in the event of an explosion beneath the armored cab.

A vehicle assembly includes, among other things, a bumper assembly, a skid plate, and a capacitive sensor system of the skid plate. A sensing method for a vehicle includes using a capacitive sensing system to detect a proximity of a vehicle to an object. The capacitive sensing system is incorporated into a skid plate that is vertically beneath a portion of a bumper assembly of the vehicle.

SKID PLATE FOR A VEHICLE

A skid plate adapted to be disposed at an underside of a vehicle is disclosed. The skid plate includes a plate portion, a duct portion, and a screen. The plate portion has a first side adapted to be disposed facing a ground and a second side disposed opposite to the first side. The duct portion is connected to the plate portion and extends away from the plate portion. Further, the duct portion defines a channel for directing a flow of air from the first side to the second side. Also, the screen is disposed at an outlet of the channel to prevent an ingress of debris to the second side.

Underbody shield materials that can provide an underbody shield with high impact resistance are described. In some configurations, an underbody shield composition comprises a porous core layer comprising a plurality of reinforcing fibers, a lofting agent and a thermoplastic material. In some instances, the underbody shield composition may also comprise a film such that an underbody shield produced from the composition can withstand at least 50 individual impacts as tested using a SAE J400 protocol.

Interchangeable Track Systems

Interchangeable track systems for interchangeable deployment with vehicle wheels on a forestry harvester vehicle having a front axle and a rear axle may include a pair of front roller frame mount arms and a pair of rear roller frame mount arms configured for mounting on the front axle and the rear axle, respectively. A pair of front track assemblies and a pair of rear track assemblies may be configured for removable mounting on the pair of front roller frame mount arms and the pair of rear roller frame mount arms, respectively. Each of the pair of front track assemblies and the pair of rear track assemblies may include an elongated roller frame configured for pivotal attachment to the corresponding one of the pair of front roller frame mount arms and pair of rear roller frame mount arms. A front idler roller and a rear idler roller may be carried by the roller frame. A track may be trained on the front idler roller and the rear idler roller. A sprocket may be configured for driving engagement by a corresponding one of the front axle and the rear axle, with the sprocket drivingly engaging the track.
