Apparatus and method for lengthening a truck cab
A method of extending a truck cab includes removing the cab rear panel, providing a cab rear opening with an upper margin and two side margins. An extender joins the truck cab, the extender having a forward opening with an upper margin and side margins that are recessed. A top fillet and two side fillets join the margins of the extender opening and have curvatures that match curvatures of top and side corners of the cab. The extender is placed against the truck cab with the extender opening margins in abutment with the cab opening margins. The fillets are in flush contact with the upper corner and side corners of the cab. Bolts secure the extender opening margins to the cab opening margins.
Assembly and method for joining vehicle body structures
A vehicle structure assembly, including: a first component including a hem structure defining an internal space disposed along an outer edge thereof; and a second component including one of an outer edge and a corresponding hem structure defining a corresponding internal space, wherein the one of the outer edge and the corresponding hem structure defining the corresponding internal space of the second component is adapted to securely engage the hem structure defining the internal space of the first component, thereby joining the second component to the first component. The first component includes a planar body portion and the hem structure includes a retaining arm or flap structure disposed substantially parallel to the planar body portion, wherein the retaining arm or flap structure and the planar body portion are integrally formed and collectively define the internal space.
Tangential joining method
The invention relates to a joining method wherein a first surface (2) of a first adherend (1) and a second surface (8) of a second adherend (6) are bonded to one another by provision of an adhesive tape (3) having a first side (4) and a second side (7), there being disposed on the first side (4) a first activatable adhesive and on the second side (7) a second activatable adhesive, the latter being an activatable pressure-sensitive adhesive, the first side (4) of the adhesive tape (3) is contacted with the first surface (2) of the first adherend (1) to produce a preliminary assembly, the second surface (8) of the second adherend (6) is joined in a joining movement to the second side (7) of the adhesive tape (3), the joining movement having a tangential component and a perpendicular component relative to the second side (7) of the adhesive tape (3), with a ratio between tangential and perpendicular components of greater than 0.5, where a region of contact between second surface (8) of the second adherend (6) and second side (7) of the adhesive tape (3) is provided with a nonaqueous lubricant.
Roof frame and roof structure of a motor vehicle
A roof frame (1) for a roof structure (2) of a motor vehicle is closed in the circumferential direction and can be mounted on a body shell structure of the motor vehicle and connected to a roof outer shell (3). The roof frame (1) is produced from a fiber composite material. A side of the roof frame (1) that faces the body shell structure of the motor vehicle has height-adjustable installation domes (5) and spacer elements (6) are attached to each of the installation domes (5). The roof frame (1) and the roof outer shell (3) are connected to each other in an integrally bonded manner.
Interlocking extruded vehicle rail assembly
An extruded rail assembly including a first multi-channel extrusion having at least two tubular channels connected by a center rib, and having a joining end configured for joining at a predetermined angle to a joining end of a second multi-channel extrusion. The second multi-channel extrusion includes at least two tubular channels connected by a center rib, and having a joining end configured for joining at the predetermined angle to the joining end of first multi-channel extrusion. The joining ends of the first and second multi-channel extrusions are configured such that the center ribs complementarily engage as a joining surface.
Sill of a vehicle body, vehicle body and method of manufacturing a vehicle body
The present invention relates to a sill of a vehicle body (1), comprising a lower sill part (5) and an upper sill part (6) placed on and attached to the lower sill part (5). The sill is characterized in that the upper sill part (6) is part of a vehicle superstructure (3), in that in one side of a first sill part (5, 6), which faces the further sill part (6, 5), a recess (7) and, on one side of the further sill part (6, 5), which faces the first sill part (5, 6), a protrusion (61) is provided, wherein the shape of the recess (7) corresponds to the shape of the protrusion (61) and the protrusion (61) interlocks form-fittingly in the recess (7). In addition, the invention relates to a vehicle body (1) with two sills (4) and a method of manufacturing such a vehicle body.
Vehicle rear wing structure
Disclosed is a vehicle rear wing structure, that includes a rear wing plate and a rear wing. The rear wing plate includes: a buckle portion, formed into an angular structure, and is used to clip and hold along a front end of the rear wing, so that the rear wing plate is fixed securely onto a surface of the rear wing; a main body portion, formed into a planar structure, and is disposed on a surface of the rear wing, and is connected and fixed to the buckle portion, on an inner surface of a rear part of the main body portion is disposed an adhesive portion; and a protrusion portion formed into a tilt-up structure, this tilt-up structure tilts up along a rear end of the rear wing to form a wind resistant plane.
Roof-attachment system and method
A roof-attachment system and method for attaching a glass roof to the bodyshell of a motor vehicle, having a foam surround and having an adhesive, which, for the purpose of fastening the glass roof on the bodyshell in a materially bonded manner, is connected firstly to the glass roof, secondly to the foam surround and thirdly to the bodyshell. At an interface between the glass roof, the foam surround, and the adhesive, a step between the adhesive and the foam surround is provided with a chamfer.
