A sill component (10) for the sill of a vehicle body (100) has an outer shell (20) made from a metal material and an inner profile (30) made from an aluminum material. The outer shell (20) is connected via a first connection section (22) to a first complementary connecting section (32) of the inner profile (30) and via at least one second connecting section (24) to at least one second complementary connecting section (34) of the inner profile (30) in a manner that transmits force along a longitudinal direction (LR) of the vehicle body (100). At least one receiving space (40) is arranged between the two connecting sections (22, 24) and a reinforcing component (50) is in the receiving space (40) for the mechanical reinforcement of the outer shell (20).
Vehicle frame construction and method
A vehicle frame construction and method includes an elongated hollow frame member having a plurality of interior sides and a reinforcement member. The reinforcement member is formed from a thermoplastic polymer and is installed so as to be arranged within the elongated hollow frame member to reinforce each interior side of the elongated hollow frame member in a plane orthogonally oriented relative to a longitudinal axis of the elongated hollow frame member.
VEHICLE HAVING REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLIES
A vehicle includes a vehicle body and a reinforcement assembly. The vehicle body has first inner and outer walls that define a cavity and second inner and outer curved walls that define another cavity. The reinforcement assembly includes a plurality of inserts. One insert of the plurality of inserts is at least partially disposed in the cavity defined by the first inner and outer walls and another insert of the plurality of inserts is at least partially disposed in the another cavity defined by the second inner and outer curved walls.
Structural reinforcements
The present invention is predicated upon the provision of systems and methods for reinforcement of a structural member. More particularly, the present invention is predicated upon unique carrier configurations and application of reinforcing material thereto. In one configuration, the application of reinforcing material is achieved without the use of fasteners, adhesives, or both, for placement, locating and restrictive movement of the reinforcing material onto the carrier.
VEHICLE PANEL HAVING A HYBRID COMPOSITE MATERIAL CONSTRUCTION
A vehicle panel includes an outer panel layer formed from a first material. The outer panel layer includes a first side, a second side, and a peripheral edge. A second panel joining surface is arranged inwardly of the peripheral edge. An inner panel layer formed from a second material that is distinct from the first material is arranged across the second side. The second panel includes a first side portion, a second side portion, and a peripheral edge portion. A panel bonding layer is joined to the peripheral edge portion. The panel bonding layer is formed from a third material that is distinct from the second material. A bonding material is disposed between the second panel joining surface and the panel bonding layer creating a chemical bond between the panel bonding layer and the second panel joining surface.
Reinforcement devices
The present teachings provide a reinforcement for a cavity. The reinforcement may include a carrier having a length extending along an axis between a first end and a second end. The carrier may include one or more longitudinal structures and one or more transverse structures. The carrier may also include one or more walls joined together to form one or more cavities extending along the axis. The carrier may have a cross-sectional shape roughly corresponding to the cross-sectional shape of interior of a hollow structural member. The device may also include a secondary material placed over the carrier. The secondary material is configured to expand, seal, reinforce, or a combination thereof upon application of a selectable stimuli and adhere to the interior of the cavity to provide reinforcement of the same.
