Vehicle underbelly structure
A panel has a first edge portion defining a first end of the panel, and a second edge portion defining a second end of the panel. The length of the panel is predetermined for the panel to reach across a vehicle chassis frame in an installed position in which the first edge portion rests on a side beam and the second edge portion rests on an opposite side beam. The panel further has a longitudinal rib. A first end of the rib is located adjacent to, and inboard of, the first edge portion. A second end of the rib is located adjacent to, and inboard of, the second edge portion.
Vehicle aerodynamic improvement apparatus and system
An aerodynamic device for attachment to a trailer of a tractor-trailer having a centerline, a trailer sidewall and a trailer door. The aerodynamic device comprises an airfoil and a flexible mounting system. The airfoil comprises a leading edge, a trailing edge, an inner surface, and an outer surface. The flexible mounting system comprises a door hinge, a mounting bracket, a trailer hinge and a door strap. The door hinge is coupled to the trailer door. The mounting bracket is coupled to the inner surface of the airfoil. The trailer hinge is coupled to the mounting bracket and the trailer sidewall. The door strap coupled to the door hinge at a first end and the mounting bracket at a second end.
REAR BODY STRUCTURE FOR VARYING THE SHAPE OF COMMERCIAL TRAILERS AND TRUCKS
The present invention relates to an air deflector configuration that can be fabricated into the construction of a new truck or trailer container or secured to the rear face of a flat rear box-like end of trucks and trailers as an attachment, with the aim of reducing aerodynamic resistance and correspondingly the fuel consumption of land vehicles used for the transportation of such containers.
Aerodynamic drag reduction system for trucks, cargo trailers and train boxcars
An air flow management system for a rear of a cargo trailer, box car, bus, van, truck, or similar vehicle, having a shaped skin in a three-dimensional surface such as a vertical half of a gas bag envelope of a hot air balloon, and an attachment bracket for the shaped skin to a rear side of the cargo vehicle to reshape and improve the aerodynamics of a vertical planar rear surface of the cargo vehicle by controlling the decompression and expansion of air flow around the rear of the vehicle, which is especially useful for over-the-road cargo trailers having side skirts.
Laterally wind-diverting vehicle fairing
Aerodynamic fairing devices divert rising headwinds lifted over the top of a truck more laterally outwards to reduce vehicle drag. Embodiments include a truck cab roof mounted fairing, a streamlined truck cab roof, a fairing visor disposed on either cab roof fairing or on a streamlined truck cab roof, and a forwardly open-box sidewall assembly disposed on an upper portion of the front wall of a cargo box of a truck or semitrailer.
VEHICLE AERODYNAMIC IMPROVEMENT APPARATUS AND SYSTEM
An aerodynamic device for attachment to a trailer of a tractor-trailer having a centerline, a trailer side and a trailer door. The trailer hinge is coupled to the mounting bracket and the trailer side. The door strap coupled to the door hinge at a first end and the mounting bracket at a second end.
TRAILABLE VEHICLE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
Disclosed herein is a trailable vehicle comprising a body for defining an interior space of the trailable vehicle, the body having at least one side wall extending between a roof and base of the trailable vehicle; wherein at least part of one side wall is directly connected to the roof and substantially formed of metallic sheet material. Also disclosed is a method of manufacturing said trailable vehicle. Also disclosed herein is a trailable vehicle stabilising system for stabilising a trailable vehicle during travel, the system comprising at least one wing member being mountable to a body of the trailable vehicle wherein the wing member(s) are configured to generate a downward force on the trailable vehicle during travel.
AERODYNAMIC RECAPTURE METHOD AND APPARATUS
Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method and apparatus for reducing drag. An exemplary apparatus includes a semitrailer having a main frame extending along a longitudinal axis and a subframe movably connected to the main frame between a first position along the longitudinal axis and a second position along the longitudinal axis. The apparatus further includes an axle assembly attached to the subframe, the axle assembly including an axle, a left wheel set, a right wheel set, and a suspension, and a first recapture device located under the main frame behind and separated from the left wheel set along the longitudinal axis by a given spacing. The apparatus still further includes a second recapture device located under the main frame behind and separated from the right wheel set along the longitudinal axis by a second spacing.
Vehicle aerodynamic improvement apparatus and system
An apparatus for the improvement of the aerodynamic properties of a primary vehicle or the aerodynamic properties of a secondary vehicle, such as a trailer, towed by a primary vehicle. Certain embodiments of the invention include an apparatus and a system typically mounted to a rear-ward portion of a semi-trailer for aerodynamic improvement. Certain embodiments of the invention include an airfoil and a stabilizer interconnected by a series of stiffeners spanning between them creating apertures for interaction with air-flow surrounding the trailing edge of a vehicle.
