Self Leveling Trailer and Loading Ramps
20230382174 · 2023-11-30 · ·

A heavy vehicle and machinery trailer having: (i) a trailer base with wheels and suspension; (ii) a trailer bed supported on the trailer base by the suspension; (iii) loading ramps connected to the trailer bed where the suspension, or other methods such as hydraulically operated landing legs, are adapted to allow an operator to alter the pitch and/or roll angle of the trailer bed relative to the ground surface and wherein where the loading ramps are adapted to have varying lengths such that the ramps can be evenly pitched when they are extended to the ground on a sloped surface. The trailer has a hydraulic system under the control of an electrical controller which is operated by a user. The electrical controller has a preset matrix of safe loading and unloading parameters which it uses to determine whether the sensed state of the trailer is safe for loading or unloading.

SECURITY SYSTEM
20220393390 · 2022-12-08 ·

The present system generally relates to a tamper resistant cap that prevents unwanted access to a semi-tractor trailer's 7 ways connection. The system includes a controller that can be operated remotely to transmit signals to an actuator within the cap. The actuator operates a lock to secure the cap in the closed position and selectively unlock the lock to allow the cap to be opened.

Vehicle energy management system and related methods

A through the road (TTR) hybridization strategy is proposed to facilitate introduction of hybrid electric vehicle technology in a significant portion of current and expected trucking fleets. In some cases, the technologies can be retrofitted onto an existing vehicle (e.g., a truck, a tractor unit, a trailer, a tractor-trailer configuration, at a tandem, etc.). In some cases, the technologies can be built into new vehicles. In some cases, one vehicle may be built or retrofitted to operate in tandem with another and provide the hybridization benefits contemplated herein. By supplementing motive forces delivered through a primary drivetrain and fuel-fed engine with supplemental torque delivered at one or more electrically-powered drive axles, improvements in overall fuel efficiency and performance may be delivered, typically without significant redesign of existing components and systems that have been proven in the trucking industry.

Platform trailer with reinforced neck

A platform trailer includes a neck reinforcement structure located in the neck region to provide for a reduced height in the neck region of the trailer to increase the cargo-carrying capacity of the trailer. The height in the neck region of the trailer is less than 30% of the height in the rest of the trailer. A fifth wheel plate includes a main portion secured to both the first and second beams of the trailer. The fifth wheel plate includes a bifurcated tail portion including a first tail portion connected to the first beam and a second tail portion connected to the second beam. A kingpin is connected to the fifth wheel plate and is adapted to be engaged by an associated tractor fifth wheel.

Portable Dock Trailer

A portable dock trailer is provided herein. In various embodiments, the portable dock trailer includes a frame, a ramp, a loading deck, and a mechanism for raising and lowering the ramp. The portable dock trailer permits the loading and unloading of cargo when a traditional loading dock is not available. Embodiments of the portable dock trailer are configured to assume a towing position to be used during transport and a loading position to be used at a loading site.

Embodiments of the present disclosure include methods, apparatuses, and systems for receiving feedback during transport. Embodiments include a transportation system comprising a tractor, a dolly attached to opposing ends of a first and second trailer, and a sensor feedback system. Sensor feedback system may include a tilt sensor system mounted on at least one of the dolly, the first trailer, and the second trailer, and a user feedback system mounted within the tractor. Tilt sensor system may measure tilt of at least one of the dolly, first and second trailers, and first and second containers attached to the first and second trailers, to obtain tilt information, and send tilt information to the user feedback system via a communication system. User feedback system may receive the tilt information and alert a driver of the tractor if the tilt information is above a predetermined level.

Urban vehicle for transporting large-volume, lightweight cargo
11390338 · 2022-07-19 ·

The present invention relates to an urban vehicle for transporting large volume and light weight cargo that is subdivided into two: a mini-tractor unit and a lightweight semi-platform. These are coupled by means of a fifth wheel with a kingpin, allowing transporting high cubic coefficient products including long formats. The mini-tractor unit of the invention is shorter between the steering and drive axles compared with a vehicle for transporting cargo of the common type. The wheelbase between the steering (front) and driving (rear) axles of the mini-tractor unit is 1.3 to 1.7 times the width of the steering axle. With these proportions, the wheelbases or measurements between the front steering axle and the rear drive axle are determined; the drive shaft between the gearbox output and the transmission crown where the semi-drive axles are located is shorter between 40% and 60% with respect to the common type vehicle drive shaft, which facilitates the reduction of the total length of the original chassis, including the elimination of the rear overhang, achieving a shorter total length in a range that varies from 15% to 25%.
