Sensor Device and Method for Monitoring the Coupling State of a Coupling Element
A sensor device for a monitoring of a coupling state of a coupling element, in particular a coupling bolt, preferably a kingpin, of a trailer, in particular a semitrailer, with a corresponding coupling element of a towing vehicle, in particular a semitrailer tractor, with at least one sensor which is at least configured for a recognition, in particular a detection, of a relative position of the coupling elements with respect to each other, wherein the sensor is realized as an ultra-wideband sensor.
ANGLE AND ORIENTATION MEASUREMENTS FOR VEHICLES WITH MULTIPLE DRIVABLE SECTIONS
Techniques are described for measuring angle and/or orientation of a rear drivable section (e.g., a trailer unit of a semi-trailer truck) relative to a front drivable section (e.g., a tractor unit of the semi-trailer truck) using an example rotary encoder assembly. The example rotary encoder assembly comprises a base surface; a housing that includes a second end that is connected to the base surface and a first end that is at least partially open and is coupled to a housing cap; and a rotary encoder that is located in the housing in between the base surface and the housing cap, where the rotary encoder includes a rotatable shaft that protrudes from a first hole located in the housing cap, and where a top of the rotatable shaft located away from the rotary encoder is coupled to magnet(s).
PORTABLE TRAILER STABILIZERS
A method of stabilizing a parked semi-trailer, the method comprising: (i) repositioning a tractor, with a lift extending forward of a front of the tractor, the lift operatively coupled to a portable trailer stabilizer while at least a portion of the portable trailer stabilizer is elevated above the ground, forward to position the portable trailer stabilizer proximate a forward end of a semi-trailer that is parked; (ii) repositioning the tractor forward to reposition the portable trailer stabilizer at least partially beneath the forward end of the semi-trailer; (iii) repositioning the lift located at the front of the tractor in order to lower the portion of the portable trailer stabilizer to be in contact with the ground when proximate the forward end of the semi-trailer that is parked; (iv) operatively decoupling the portable trailer stabilizer from the lift after the portable trailer stabilizer is in contact with the ground; and, (v) reversing the tractor, after the lift is operatively decoupled from portable trailer stabilizer, to vacate a position in front of the forward end of the semi-trailer while parked.
FRONT HEADER TUBE AND PIN BOX
An upper deck frame assembly for a trailer chassis includes a flushed floor section defining a first floor height, and a header section, with a header, forward of the flushed floor section and defining a second floor height above the first floor height. A towing assembly may be secured to the header. A reduced size header section increases usable floor space, and the towing assembly is securable to the header.

Systems and methods for automated operation and handling of autonomous trucks and trailers hauled thereby
A system and method for operation of an autonomous vehicle (AV) yard truck is provided. A processor facilitates autonomous movement of the AV yard truck, and connection to and disconnection from trailers. A plurality of sensors are interconnected with the processor that sense terrain/objects and assist in automatically connecting/disconnecting trailers. A server, interconnected, wirelessly with the processor, that tracks movement of the truck around and determines locations for trailer connection and disconnection. A door station unlatches/opens rear doors of the trailer when adjacent thereto, securing them in an opened position via clamps, etc. The system computes a height of the trailer, and/or if landing gear of the trailer is on the ground and interoperates with the fifth wheel to change height, and whether docking is safe, allowing a user to take manual control, and optimum charge time(s). Reversing sensors/safety, automated chocking, and intermodal container organization are also provided.
Adjustable capture plate for a fifth wheel hitch
An adjustable capture plate for a fifth wheel hitch is disclosed. An example capture plate includes a skid plate couplable to a fifth wheel hitch, and a clamping system including, a base coupled to the skid plate, a pressure plate slidably coupled to the base, and a crank arm coupled to the pressure plate via a link, wherein rotation of the crank arm about an anchor pin of the base corresponds to linear travel of the pressure plate along the base, the pressure plate movable between a first position in which the pressure plate engages a pin box of a trailer and a second position in which the pressure plate is positioned away from the pin box.
TRAILER STABILIZATION AND RESTRAINT
A parked freight trailer stabilizer and restraint comprising: (a) a kingpin receiver configured to lock onto a kingpin of a parked freight trailer; (b) a jack operatively coupled to the kingpin receiver, the jack repositionable between a retracted position and an extended position; (c) a tail hold operatively coupled to the kingpin receiver, the tail hold repositionable between a stowed position and a restraining position, the tail hold configured to engage a ground mount; and, (d) a transport receiver configured to engage a transport vehicle.
FIFTH WHEEL HITCH WITH LATCHING SYSTEM
The present disclosure relates generally to a fifth wheel hitch and, more particularly, to a fifth wheel hitch having a latching system that is viewable to a user. In another instance, the present disclosure relates to a fifth wheel hitch having a latching system that permits a user to restrict movement of the fifth wheel hitch in at least two different planes of motion.
Kingpin assembly with rotation sensor arrangement
A kingpin assembly includes a housing having a recess located therein, a kingpin having at least a portion located within the recess of the housing, wherein the kingpin is secured within the recess of the housing, and wherein the kingpin includes an axis extending along a length of the kingpin, and a sensor arrangement configured to sense a force exerted on the kingpin in a first direction that is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.
