Golf Club Heads with Energy Storage Characteristics

Embodiments of golf club heads with energy storage characteristics are presented herein. In some embodiments, a golf club head comprises a hollow body comprising a strikeface, a heel region, a toe region opposite the heel region, a sole, a top rail and an inflection point. The inflection point provides increase bending of the strikeface thereby providing performance enhancement over clubs without an inflection point.

GOLF CLUB HEAD OR OTHER BALL STRIKING DEVICE HAVING IMPACT-INFLUENCING BODY FEATURES

A ball striking device, such as a golf club head, has a face with a striking surface configured for striking a ball and a channel extending across a portion of the sole. The channel may be recessed from adjacent surfaces of the sole and have a depth of recession from the adjacent surfaces of the sole. The channel may have a cross-sectional profile that is asymmetric with a front wall and a rear wall where the front wall is longer than the rear wall. The channel may also have a center thickness that is different than a thickness at the heel and toe sides.

Mixed material golf club head

A golf club head includes a rear body having a crown member coupled to a sole member, and a front body coupled to the rear body to define a substantially hollow structure. The front body includes a strike face and a surrounding frame that extends rearward from a perimeter of the strike face. At least a portion of an outer wall of the club head comprises a thermoplastic composite having a plurality of lamina layers. The plurality of lamina layers include at least a fabric reinforced thermoplastic composite layer and a filled thermoplastic layer, and the fabric reinforced thermoplastic composite layer and the filled thermoplastic layer are directly bonded to each other without an intermediate adhesive.

Golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads

Embodiments of golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads are generally described herein. In one example, an iron-type golf club head may include a hollow body portion having a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion, a sole portion, a front portion, and a back portion. The back portion may have an upper back wall, a lower back wall, and a ledge portion connecting the upper back wall to the lower back wall. The golf club head may include an interior cavity in the hollow body portion and an elastic polymer material in the interior cavity. The interior cavity may have a maximum cavity width proximate to the ledge portion. The hollow body portion may include a first port located in the upper back wall and a second port located in the lower back wall. Other examples and embodiments may be described and claimed.
