A golf club incorporating a trip step feature located on the crown section. A portion of the trip step is located between a crown apex and the back of the club head and may be continuous or discontinuous. The trip step enables a reduction in aerodynamic drag force.
MULTI-MATERIAL IRON GOLF CLUB HEAD
Described herein is a tour iron having a golf club head with a faceplate, a body, and an insert. A sole, top rail, rear, and the faceplate enclose a cavity within the body. The cavity can house the insert. The insert can comprise a low-density material, allowing weight to be concentrated around the peripheral edge of the golf club head. The rear of the golf club head has an inflection seam running from the heel to the toe. The golf club head has an upper portion, above the inflection seam and a lower portion below the inflection seam. The lower portion can have a depth greater that the upper portion depth. The faceplate, body, and insert can be formed of different materials having different densities. The golf club head has a comparatively high moment of inertia and a low center of gravity. Golf club with aerodynamic features on club face
The invention provides golf club heads having aerodynamic features that disrupt air flow over the face when the club is swung. The features are milled into the face of the club head, including curved faces found in wood-type club heads. During a swing, the features cause the boundary layer to separate at a point closer to the rear of the club head during a swing, resulting in reduced drag. The invention also provides golf club heads with faces having a central region of symmetrical surface roughness. The symmetrical roughness in the central region of the face of wood-type club heads allows for shots with less spin and greater distance.
MIXED MATERIAL GOLF CLUB HEAD
A golf club head includes a rear body having a crown member coupled to a sole member, and a front body coupled to the rear body to define a substantially hollow structure. The front body includes a strike face and a surrounding frame that extends rearward from a perimeter of the strike face. The front body further includes a fabric reinforced thermoplastic composite layer and a filled thermoplastic layer each extending across the entire strike face. The fabric reinforced thermoplastic composite layer and the filled thermoplastic layer each comprise a common thermoplastic resin component, and are directly bonded to each other without an intermediate adhesive.

A golf club head includes a body having a heel portion, a toe portion, a sole portion, and an outer surface, a strikeface having a geometric center, a head center of gravity, and a weight member including a weight pad. The weight member is configured to be repositionable by the user to a first position or a second position. The club head having the weight member in the first position shifts the head center of gravity toward the strikeface, and the club head having the weight member in the second position shifts the head center of gravity away from the strikeface.

The golf club head comprises a ball striking face and a body, wherein the body comprises a plurality of ports each adapted to receive a threaded fastener and defines an outer surface of the golf club head. The plurality of ports comprises a bore recessed inward relative to the outer surface of the body, wherein the bore is fluidly isolated from the internal volume, wherein the bore is adapted to receive a threaded fastener; and a door hingably coupled to the body and pivotable between a first position that is substantially flush with the outer surface and a second position that is deflected inward of the outer surface; wherein the door at least partially blocks ingress of the threaded fastener into the bore when in the first position, and permits ingress of the threaded fastener into the bore when in the second position.

A golf club head for a driver is disclosed. The golf club head includes a face portion and a rearward end portion. An upward facing surface in a crown portion of the golf club head curves up towards the rearward end portion to keep airflow from separating from the crown portion. A downward facing surface on a sole portion of the golf club includes an airfoil that helps keep air stuck to the sole portion of the golf club head. The airfoil portion extends from a toe portion to a heel portion of the golf club head to help maintain smooth airflow across the entirety of the golf club head during a swing.
