10703433 · 2020-07-07 · ·

What is disclosed is a drive device for a bicycle driven by an electric motor, having a main frame having a swing arm bearing, and a rear linkage element arranged at the swing arm bearing. The drive device has a pedal crank as a first drive for providing a first drive force, having a first drive shaft, a center electric motor as a second drive for providing a second drive force, and an output element having an output shaft, configured to receive the first and/or second drive forces and transfer same to the bicycle wheel to be driven. The center axis of the output shaft is radially distanced from the center axis of the first drive shaft and the output shaft is arranged relative to the swing arm bearing such that a radial distance between the center axis of the swing arm bearing and the center axis of the output shaft is smaller than a radial distance between the center axis of the swing arm bearing and the center axis of the first drive shaft.

Bicycle frame joints with internal cabling passages
10696349 · 2020-06-30 ·

A bicycle frame joint accommodating internal cabling is shown and described. The joint includes an internal passage joining at least two frame tube receiving sockets. The internal passage can receive cables and lighting strips, enabling a circuit or lighting strip to extend along a plurality of frame tubes, and to pass through joints between adjacent frame tubes, to promote circuit continuity. Some bicycle frame joints may have internal passages bypassing some sockets, enabling a continuous circuit to bypass an intervening frame tube.

Apparatus, systems, and methods for preventing migration of contaminants within tubing of a frame

An apparatus, system, and method is provided for preventing the communication of contaminants between connected hollow interiors of tubes of a frame, such as a bicycle frame, for example. A hollow insert may be positioned inside a first tube of a frame such that seals on bottom and top portions of the insert are radially sealed against an interior surface of the first tube on either side of an open intersection between the first tube and other tubes of the frame, so that the interior of the first tube is not open to the interiors of the other tubes of the frame. Contaminants that then enter the first tube, such as through the headset of a bicycle head tube, for example, pass through the interior of the insert and out the bottom of the first tube, instead of passing into the interior of the frame.
