Sail construction comprising foldable sail supports, a crossbeam, a holder, a sail, a bottom holder, ropes and a block and tackle system. The sail can be a self-inflatable sail designed similarly to paragliders, partially or fully inflatable.
WIND-PROPELLED BOAT HAVING PARALLEL SELF-RIGHTING PAIRED MASTS FOR WIND-ASSISTED PROPULSION FOR BOATS
A wind-propelled vessel is described herein. The vessel includes at least one hull and at least one set of paired masts. Each paired mast of the at least one set of paired masts has a first mast located to one side of the vessel and a second mast located on the opposite side of the vessel. Also, each mast of the at least one set of paired masts has a spar located at or near the top of the mast. Moreover, each one of the spar located at or near the top of the mast extends inwards towards a center plane of the vessel, and an inward end of the spar is connected by a connector to another inward end of another one of the each one of the spar located at or near the top of the mast. In accordance with the illustrative examples provided herein, the connector imparts a dynamic force upon connected spars that responsively pulls the connected ones of the inward ends of the spars to their nearest position when tops of the masts to which the spars are fixably attached move away from a relative nearest position to a paired one of one set of paired masts.
SAIL CONSTRUCTION
Sail construction comprising foldable sail supports (2), a crossbeam (3), a holder (1.1), a sail (1), a bottom holder (4), ropes (4.3) and a bolt and tackle system. The sail can be a self-inflatable sail (1 SN) designed similarly to paragliders, partially or fully inflatable.
STABILISED ROTARY SAIL RIGGING
Stabilized rotating sailing rig for boats formed by a mast, a boom perpendicular to the mast, and one or more sails bent to the common boom and to the mast; rig capable of freely rotating with all its elements, around a vertical axis, with the important and novel characteristic that the top of the mast is stabilized by shrouds and/or stays which tie it to the periphery of the deck or decks of the boat without jeopardizing the rotation of the rig around its vertical axis. This top of the mast stabilization also permits the use of prow fixed sails.
RIG FOR A NAUTICAL MEANS
The present invention relates to a rig (2) for a nautical means comprising: a reference plane intended to coincide with a symmetry plane extending in longitudinal and vertical direction of the hull of the nautical means; at least one wing; at least one rigid support capable of supporting said wing and transmitting a propulsive thrust to the hull of the nautical means given by the aerodynamic lift generated by the wing when it takes wind; the wing comprising a first and a second main face opposite to each other, the rigid support being capable of supporting the wing at least in a first operating configuration in which at least a main portion of the first or second face is facing a first side of the reference plane and in a second operating configuration in which said main portion is facing the opposite side of the reference plane; the rigid support comprising a wing sliding path for switching from the first to the second operating position and vice versa.
Rig for sailboat
An improved rig is provided for sailing craft, in which two sails are provided in the general shape of tapered tubes encircling each of two adjacent masts arrayed in an A-frame configuration. In the course of a tack, the sails may be swung pendulum-like either towards or away from the bow (one in each direction). The two sails therefore effectively alternate between serving the role of a jib (with sail-area mainly forward of a mast), and the role of a mainsail (with sail-area mainly aft of a mast). The same set of sails on the same masts may also advantageously be deployed for use in high winds, running downwind, heaving-to, and running before a storm.
WING-TYPE SAIL SYSTEM
A wing-type sail system is provided. The system includes a mast assembly pivotally mounted on a swiveling base attachable to a craft and a substantially rigid multi-element asymmetric wing pivotally attached to a top of the mast assembly. The system further includes a control mechanism for modifying roll and yaw of the substantially rigid wing with respect to the craft.
