A mechanism positions a movable part relative to a support, between deployed and retracted configurations, with the movable part distant from the support and flush with the support, respectively. A base is attached to the support and has a central hole. A first positioning device has a first body in the central hole and a first off-centered hole relative to the central hole and a first notched wheel mechanically attached to the first body. A second positioning device has a second body in the first off-centered hole and a second off-centered hole and with a second notched wheel attached to the second body rotating when the second notched wheel is actuated. The two positioning devices are mounted fixed in translation relative to the base and position, along the two directions, an interface member of the movable part mounted in the second off-centered hole and attached to the positioning mechanism.

Bulwark terrace with integrated door

A bulwark terrace with integrated door is provided; the bulwark terrace may be a portion of a bulwark on a ship or yacht that is hinged so as to be able to fold outwards and downwards and be flush with the deck after doing so, thereby extending the deck surface. The bulwark terrace may also include a door that may open independently of the bulwark terrace to allow boarding of the yacht or ship through the bulwark without deploying the bulwark terrace.

Obstruction for Mounting along a Perimeter, Perimeter Protection System, Vessel or Marine Installation, and Method of Protecting a Perimeter

The present invention provides an obstruction (10) for mounting along a perimeter of a vessel or marine installation, wherein the vessel or marine installation comprises a deck (51) having a perimeter railing (20) and an upstanding plate (53) along an edge of the deck. The obstruction has an elongate body comprising a longitudinal groove (12) for receiving a lowermost course of rails (203) of the perimeter railing, and a tongue (14) for overhanging the plate (53) on an outboard or seaward side thereof. The tongue comprises a rear surface (142) intended to face in an inboard direction when the obstruction (10) is mounted along the perimeter of the vessel or marine installation. A separation, s, between the rear surface (142) of the tongue and a centreline (X-X) of the longitudinal groove (12) is between 30 and 300 mm, and the centreline (X-X) of the longitudinal groove (12) and the separation, s, together define a plane which subtends an angle, , of between 90 and 135 degrees to the rear surface of the tongue. With such an obstruction, the upstanding plate (53) can be protected, so that the ability of an unauthorized potential boarder to attach a hook to the plate or to gain a handhold on the top edge of the plate are severely impeded. The invention also provides a perimeter protection system (100) comprising a plurality of such obstructions (10a, 10b), a vessel or marine installation comprising a plurality of such obstructions, and a method of protecting a perimeter of a vessel or marine installation using a plurality of such obstructions.

SECURITY BULWARK, PERIMETER PROTECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD OF PROTECTING A PERIMETER

In one aspect, the present invention provides a security bulwark for mounting outside a perimeter railing of a vessel or marine installation. The bulwark has a front face comprising a projecting mound. The mound has an underside which provides the bulwark with an overhang. The mound is also convex in a direction of the breadth of the bulwark. The invention also provides a perimeter protection system comprising a plurality of such security bulwarks arranged side-by-side and adjacent to each other. Finally, the invention further provides a method of protecting a perimeter of a vessel or marine installation. The method comprises positioning a plurality of security bulwarks side-by-side and adjacent to each other along a perimeter railing of a vessel or marine installation, attaching some of the plurality of security bulwarks to the railing, and connecting remaining ones of the plurality of security bulwarks which are not attached to the railing to ones of the plurality of security bulwarks which are attached to the railing. Thus even if a security bulwark cannot be mounted directly to the perimeter railing, for example because of a gap in the railing or an obstruction in the way of the railing, the bulwark can still be positioned in the same location outside the railing and securely mounted in that location by being connected to an adjacent security bulwark which can be mounted to the perimeter railing.
