Release system for a tether line

A release system for a tether line includes a housing having a side that is at least partially open. A tether lead within the housing is adjacent to the side of the housing. A release mechanism in the housing includes a shackle having a closed end and an open end. The shackle is disposed in the housing at a portion therein that is lower than that of the tether lead. The release mechanism also includes a hinge for mounting the shackle within the housing. In a tether-retention mode, the open end of the shackle faces the top of the housing and the shackle is prevented from rotation about the hinge. In a tether-release mode, the shackle is free to rotate about the hinge under gravity wherein the open end of the shackle rotates to face the side of the housing.

OFF-SHORE WIND TURBINE SYSTEM AND METHOD OF INSTALLATION

An off-shore wind turbine system is assembled using a platform or jack-up vessel, and a first base anchored to the seafloor at a bade assembly off-shore location. A buoyant tower is attached to the first base. A crane provided on the platform or jack-up vessel is used to lift blades and blades, which are then coupled to a turbine held in a nacelle provided at the top of the buoyant tower. The buoyant tower, the nacelle, and the blades are detached from the first base. The buoyant tower, the nacelle, and the blades are towed to a wind farm and connected to a second base provided in the wind farm. The buoyant tower, the nacelle, and the blades are further stabilized using mooring lines spanning between the buoyant towers and other bases provided in the wind farm. The first base and/or the second base include anti-rotation features.

Disclosed is a mooring system (1) for mooring a floating vessel. The mooring system includes a connector structure (10) for attachment to a mooring line and an anchor structure (20) to be anchored to a sea bed. The connector structure comprises an engagement portion (14) and an attachment portion (12). The anchor structure comprises an open guide channel (22) extending from an entrance region (24) to a terminal region (26); and sized to accommodate at least the engagement portion of the connector structure. A longitudinal opening to the guide channel provides access for a mooring line connected to the attachment portion, while the connector and anchor structures are connected and disconnected. Connection and disconnection can be controlled from the water surface.

FLOATING BODY WITHOUT SEPARATE CONNECTION DEVICE AND CONNECTION METHOD THEREOF

A floating body to which an aquatic or marine facility is installed or which is connected to a lower part of the aquatic or marine facility to hold the aquatic or marine facility on water or the sea is proposed. The floating body may include a main floating body which floats on water or the sea by using buoyancy, and a magnet provided on a first vertical side of the main floating body. The floating body may also include a coupling member provided on an opposite vertical side of the main floating body by corresponding to a magnet of another floating body such that the coupling member is coupled thereto, and a mooring line installed on a part of the main floating body to moor and hold the main floating body on water or the sea.

Assembly comprising a set of strands and a diagnostic device for diagnosing the state of the set of strands

Assembly comprising: a set of strands that extends in a direction of tension in which the set of strands is intended to experience tensile stresses; at least one diagnostic fiber that is integrated into the set of strands and able to conduct light, the light propagating through the diagnostic fiber between an entrance end and an exit end, that extends in the direction of tension, and that has a mechanical tensile strength close to that of one of the strands; and a diagnostic device comprising a light source for sending a light beam into the diagnostic fiber via the entrance end, a first optical sensor for delivering a signal representative of the light intensity at the exit end of the diagnostic fiber, the light intensity at the exit end of the diagnostic fiber being correlated to the mechanical state of the diagnostic fiber.

SMALL WATERCRAFT MOORING DEVICE AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME
20230182866 · 2023-06-15 ·

A watercraft mooring device is provided. The mooring device provides a rigid body extending between a rigid hook portion and an elastic loop connectable to the watercraft. The rigid hook portion has a distal end that transitions by way of a curvature to a proximal end rigidly connected to the rigid body. A foam layer may encase the rigid body, giving floatation properties to the mooring device as well as bumper capabilities. The prong of the hook portion is dimensioned and adapted to slide through a slot of a cleat or the like on a docking structure, whereby the curvature enables a pivotal connection so that the loop end of mooring device may move vertically out of plane with the cleat slot, while the rigidity of the hook portion and the rigid body of the mooring device keeps the watercraft spaced apart from the docking structure.

DOCK LINE MANAGEMENT APPARATUS

A dock line management device is provided. The dock line management device includes a tube which is rotatable about at least one axis and which is hollow for receiving a dock line.

SURGE DAMPING SYSTEMS AND PROCESSES FOR USING SAME
20230166816 · 2023-06-01 · ·

Surge damping systems and processes for using same. In some embodiments, a system for mooring a vessel can include a mooring support structure that can include a base structure and a turntable disposed on the base structure. A vessel support structure can be disposed on the vessel. At least one extension arm can be suspended from the vessel support structure. A ballast tank can be connected to the extension arm. A uni-directional passive surge damping system can be disposed on the vessel and can include an elongated tension member connected to the ballast tank that can be configured to dampen a movement of the ballast tank by applying a tension thereto. A yoke can extend from and can be connected at a first end to the ballast tank and can include a yoke head disposed on a second end thereof that can be configured to connect to the turntable.

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONNECTING ARTICLES TO TIE-DOWN CLEATS
20170313232 · 2017-11-02 ·

A connection device is provided for removably connecting an article to a tie-down cleat having a pair of opposed horns each with each horn having a free end. The articles can be ropes, straps, bungee cords, netting, covers, wraps, accessories, and the like. The connection device includes a body having a pair of horn openings each configured for receiving one of the opposed horns therein. The horn openings are coaxial and spaced apart a distance less than a distance between the free ends of the horns. At least a portion of the body is formed of an elastic material so that the body can be resiliently stretched for selectively inserting the opposed horns into the horn openings to secure the connection device to the tie-down cleat and resiliently stretched for selectively removing the opposed horns out of the horn openings to remove the connection device from the tie-down cleat.

Intelligent Fiber Rope Termination
20170299450 · 2017-10-19 ·

A cable termination including an integral instrument package providing intelligence. The instrument package may assume many forms and may serve many purposes. In a preferred embodiment, the termination includes a position-determining system and an on-board processor. The processor determines a current location in space for the termination based on the information it is receiving. This positional information may then be transmitted to an external receiver. In the scenario where the termination is attached to a payload, the positional information may be used by an external positioning device (such as a crane) to control the motion of the termination and thereby place the payload in a desired position. The termination also preferably includes load-monitoring and recording features. The termination may also carry one or more ROV's/AUV's.
