Molded pontoon boat with integrated deck and hull components
10017226 · 2018-07-10 ·

A fiberglass pontoon boat, having raised and integrated fiberglass side rails, a flat floor, and a side entry level with the flat floor. Integrated seats are molded in fiberglass. The hull and deck join together by flexing the hull to compensate for opposing draft angles of the hull and deck at the side entry. The deck has a floor and at least one other interior component, and terminates in a deck trim flange. The hull has at least two hollow pontoons and at least two side rails that extend from an outer edge of the pontoons, and the hull terminates in a hull trim flange. When assembled, the hull trim flange operatively engages beneath the deck trim flange to form a unified pontoon boat having a space between the deck and hull and wherein the side rails are integrated as structural parts of the interior component.

Nonwoven flexible composites

Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for using nonwoven materials for evacuation slides, life rafts, life vests, and other life-saving inflatable devices. The nonwoven materials have a substrate layer with continuous filaments formed in various directions.

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate generally to nonwoven substrate materials that find particular use in connection with evacuation slides, evacuation slide/rafts, life rafts, life preservers/vests, or other emergency flotation devices. Such devices are typically formed from woven substrates, but the present inventors have determined that using nonwoven substrates in connection with such devices can provide improved benefits. The nonwoven substrates further have a gas barrier formed thereon by using layer-by-layer (LBL) nanocoating technology.

METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A ROTOR BODY OF A MAGNUS-TYPE ROTOR

A method is provided for manufacturing a rotor body of a Magnus-type rotor. The method includes providing a plurality of arcuate panels, wherein each of the panels has an arc-length less than a predetermined circumference of the rotor body. The method further includes positioning at least three such arcuate panels in mutual edge-wise abutment to form circumferentially a hollow cylindrical loop, wherein longitudinal edges of adjacent panels are mutually attached to each other. The method further optionally includes co-axially stacking one above another at least two loops of substantially similar diameter. The method further includes connecting edges of adjacent loops to define the rotor body of a predetermined height.
