Method and apparatus for effecting rescue of persons or animals caught in open hydraulic channels
Apparatus for facilitating recovery of objects from a hydraulic channel containing a flowing fluid, the apparatus comprising: a porous planar surface for disposition within the hydraulic channel, the porous planar surface being elevated in the direction of flow in the hydraulic channel at an angle to a plane extending normal to the force of gravity such that the horizontal component of the angle of elevation is greater than the vertical component thereof; wherein the porous planar surface is configured to permit the fluid flowing in the hydraulic channel to flow through the porous planar surface without materially obstructing the flow of the fluid in the hydraulic channel.
Person-in-the-water rescue and retrieval system
A person-in-the-water rescue and retrieval system includes a net assembly having a pair of laterally spaced apart side ropes and a plurality of net portions, each net portion being constructed of a material that floats, extends laterally between the side ropes, and is spaced apart longitudinally from an adjacent net portion. The system includes a deployment capsule defining an interior space configured to selectively receive the net assembly therein. A launching device includes a framework configured to receive the deployment member. A first compressed air canister is in fluid communication with the launching device and the deployment member and configured to apply force to the deployment member when actuated that is sufficient to propel the deployment member from the launching device. The launching device may be boat mounted or configured as a handheld device such as in the form of a rifle.
Expandable Floating Net Rescue Tool
New expanding net interceptors and rescue devices are provided. In some aspects of the invention, a rescue device comprises a dense, positionable head, an extendable boom and a handle with an expansion and/or inflation trigger, wherein the positionable head comprises folded or compacted net, expandable and/or inflatable by the expansion and/or inflation trigger.
RECOVERY SYSTEM
Described herein is a device for recovering an object from water comprising an object attachment point, for attaching the device to the object, and an inflatable and/or buoyant target mesh element, the attachment point and target mesh element being linked by an extendible line portion which is extendible when placed under longitudinal pressure. Such a Man Overboard Recovery System allows a vessel to remain under proper control in difficult weather conditions when dealing with a casualty recovery situation.
Person overboard retrieval apparatus
A deployable conscious or unconscious person-in-the-water rescue apparatus that can be manually or automatically deployed multiple and consecutive times to assist both a rescuer and a person-in-the-water by providing a tethered net that self-deploys in the water and supports the person-in-the-water while being pulled to safety.
Life Jacket Attachment
The present invention relates to a life jacket. The life jacket comprises a floatable rope and securing means attached to the life jacket. The floatable rope extends from the securing means and is arranged such that it is suitable for attachment to lifting means.
