REBREATHER CONTROL PARAMETER SYSTEM AND DIVE RESOURCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
20170106954 · 2017-04-20 ·

A method and apparatus for automatically controlling partial pressure of oxygen in the breathing loop of a rebreather diving system. A diver may adjustably select a control parameter to maintain partial pressure of oxygen at a setpoint that varies with ambient pressure and is within a range between a maximum safe partial pressure of oxygen at depth and a minimum safe partial pressure of oxygen for the purpose of biasing the performance of the rebreather either towards minimizing gas venting from the rebreather breathing loop or minimizing decompression time. A method and apparatus for managing and monitoring the use of dive resources in comparison with a target dive time specified by the diver, calculating and indicating remaining dive time based on dive resource values and calculating and indicating dive resource values required to meet preselected dive resource end values and dive requirements.

Wireless skin temperature measurements in diving

A dive computer system that utilizes a direct skin temperature measurement is provided. The dive computer system includes a measurement device that includes a temperature sensor and is attached to a strap. The strap is placed around a diver's chest and configured to measure the diver's skin temperature. The skin temperature is wirelessly transmitted to a dive computer that utilizes a dive algorithm to determine compartment inert gas saturation and desaturation. The dive algorithm determines an updated skin perfusion factor that is in turn utilized to determine an updated half time for the skin compartment for inert gas desaturation and a pressure tolerance for the skin compartment for inert gas saturation.

SHARK-PROOF WRIST BAND COMPRISING AN ELECTROMAGNETIC-BASED SHARK REPELLENT SYSTEM
20250098663 · 2025-03-27 ·

A wrist-worn electromagnetic pulse generating wearable device for repelling great white sharks, tiger sharks, and bull sharks. i.e., the lethal shark breeds. The device includes an artificial intelligence/machine learning component (AI/ML) trained on a dataset including characteristics of the lethal shark breeds. A hydroactive sensor activates the device upon immersion in marine or fresh water. A signal generating component, responsive to AI/ML component, generates an ELF signal that radiates out to a 4 m area surrounding the user to repel shark attacks. Wave pulse characteristics, such as frequency, waveshape, and magnitude are determined by the AI/ML algorithm based on the detected shark breed. Antenna design based on fractal geometry (e.g., the T-square fractal, or the Sierpinski Triangle) generates an ideal isotropic radiation pattern. The wrist-mounted form factor of the inventive device offers improved performance over prior art devices.
