Dive mask for underwater communication
A dive mask including an ultrasonic communication system and an alert subsystem to measure the distance between two dive masks and alert divers if they have moved apart and exceeded a setpoint range. An illuminating edge or indicator light including at least one LED will illuminate to notify the divers they have moved apart and exceeded the setpoint range. The dive mask includes a danger function the divers may trigger to notify each other of potential danger. The dive mask includes a function to illuminate the at least one LED if the battery level in either dive mask is low.
MOUTHPIECE APPARATUS FOR MEASUREMENT OF BIOMETRIC DATA OF A DIVER AND UNDERWATER COMMUNICATION
Embodiments of the invention provide a system, apparatus and methods for measurement of biometric data of a diver. In many embodiments, the system includes a mouthpiece having a sensor device comprising a light emitter and detector configured to emit and detect light at a wavelength having an absorbance correlated with a level of a blood gas saturation e.g., oxygen, nitrogen, CO.sub.2. The emitter is positioned to emit light onto oral tissue of the diver and the detector positioned to detect light which is received from the oral tissue either by transmittance of light through the oral tissue or by reflection of light from the tissue. The target oral tissue can include one or both of gum or buccal tissue. Such embodiments allow data to be collected without having to wear additional sensors or measurement devices and allow for measurement of blood gas levels as the diver breaths through their mouthpiece.

Systems and Methods for Dive Masks with Remote Displays
Systems and methods for configurable dive masks in accordance with embodiments of the invention are illustrated. In one embodiment, a configurable dive mask including a dive mask frame, at least one lens located within the dive mask frame, a display device viewable through the at least one lens, a processor, a dive device data circuit that obtains dive device data from a set of sensor devices, a configuration interface circuit that communicates with configuration devices to obtain configuration data when the configuration interface is above water; and memory storing configuration data and dive device data, wherein the processor receives configuration data via the configuration interface, receives dive device data via the dive device interface, determines a portion of the dive device data to display based upon the configuration data, and displays dive device data in accordance with configuration data.

Underwater Safety Device
An example safety system for underwater diving includes a biological sensor for detecting a diver in distress, an alarm system, and a rescue deployment system. The sensor detects an anomalous condition and issues an alarm, such as, for example, a buzzer or a flashing light. In another example embodiment, upon determining the existence of a major, persistent, time-critical anomaly, or upon being instructed by the diver, the system inflates the diver's buoyancy compensation device and brings her toward the surface at a controlled rate. In another example embodiment, upon determining the existence of such an anomaly, or upon being instructed by the diver, the system releases a buoy, allowing the buoy to float to the water surface and alert others. In another example embodiment, the buoy detects its position upon reaching the surface and issues a radio signal, indicating distress and its current position.
