ATHLETIC NETS, ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE EVALUATION SYSTEMS AND METHODOLOGIES FOR USING THE SAME
A system is provided that generates and assigns a composite performance index number for an athlete throwing or hitting a plurality of objects at a net. The system involves a net having a uniform grid, at least one spin rate device embedded within the objects; one or more measurement devices at least one of adjacent to or integrated within the net and positioned to observe the grid; and an evaluation apparatus coupled to the spin rate device and the one or more measurement devices. The evaluation apparatus includes a processor configured to: based at least upon data captured by the one or more measurement devices, determine relative to the grid respective locations where the objects are thrown or hit by the athlete; and generate and assign, based at least upon the determined location, a composite performance index number for the athlete. Associated methods and computer program products are also provided.
MOTION CAPTURE AND ANALYSIS
Systems and methods for motion capture and analysis are described. The system may include a motion sensor unit configured to capture data associated with movement of an object. The motion sensor unit is configured to be directly or indirectly coupled to the movement object at a first location. The system also includes a processor to process the captured data to determine one or more values and to translate the data and/or values to correspond to a second location on the movement object located away from the first location. The data and/or values, including translated data and/or values, may be transmitted by wireless transmitter and displayed by a display unit.
GOLF CLUB HEAD CUSTOMIZATION
A method of customizing a golf club, wherein the method includes generating operating data representative of a user operating a mechanical device. The operating data is generated by a first sensor sized and configured to be removably positioned in a mounting port formed on the mechanical device during operation of the mechanical device. The sensor is interchangeably positionable in the mounting port with at least one mass insert, the at least one mass insert being adapted to be interchangeably positioned in the mounting to provide at least two different mass configurations. The method further includes determining a recommended configuration of the at least one mass insert specific to the user based on the operating data generated by the sensor, and transmitting information representative of the recommended mass insert.
HOCKEY GOALIE MANNEQUIN TRAINING AID
A goalie mannequin support frame includes an upright frame. The upright frame includes a body portion having a top member, a bottom member, a first side member and a second side member. At least one arm member extends laterally from the first side member. A legs portion is coupled to the body portion and extends downward from the bottom member. The legs portion is disposed at an angle relative to the body portion. A support frame is coupled to the upright frame and is configured to support the upright frame in an upright position when resting on a surface.
Face-off training device and method of use
A device and methods for training a person for face-offs in athletic activities and games. The device includes a base connector, a main resilient member, and a stick wrap. The stick wrap is connected to the heel of the stick and to the main resilient member. The base connector is connected to the main resilient member and serves to connect the training device to a stationary structure. The main resilient member is configured to provide a desired level of resistance to a face-off motion of the stick by the user. An auxiliary resilient member is provided for connection in parallel to the main resilient member to enable the device to provide increased resistance to the face-off motion of the stick by the user.
SPORT STICK TRAINING WEIGHT
A training weight for a sport stick is provided. The sport stick includes a housing having a sidewall, a proximal end wall and a distal end wall. The sidewall and proximal end wall include an opening and slot which are sized to accept a sport stick's handle and knob. Preferably, the training weight includes a cup which is biased by a spring to force the sport stick's knob to engage and lock to the training weight's proximal end wall. The training weight may include a cam mechanism to permit the retraction and extension of the spring and cup.
Sports training ball with enhanced gripping surface
A sports ball, such as a lacrosse ball, comprising, an outer shell layer defining an enclosure having an interior volume for housing a filler material, the outer shell layer comprising a plurality of sections (pads or panels) connected along a plurality of seams, the sections having an outer surface comprising one or more layers of a substantially smooth non-woven synthetic leather, such as a synthetic suede, microfiber, or micro-velour, with an optional surface coating, which produce a frictional resistance (coefficient of friction) which decreases ball slippage against a surface or when released from the strings of a lacrosse stick.
DEVICE FOR SPORTS TRAINING
An apparatus for sports training on a playing surface, the apparatus comprising: a first holder defining a first receiving port for receiving a first lateral bar, the first holder being operable to hold the first lateral bar at a height selected from a plurality of selectable heights above the playing surface; and a second holder engaged with the first holder and defining a second receiving port for receiving a receiving end of the second lateral bar, the second holder being operable to hold the receiving end of the second lateral bar above the playing surface, the first lateral bar and the second lateral bar space apart from each other around an axis normal to the playing surface.
HOCKEY PUCK HAVING A TRACKING DEVICE
The present technology relates to a puck having a body cavity and an aperture for accessing the body cavity. The body cavity defines a sidewall that includes a first portion and a second portion defining a first connector. The puck further includes a tracking device disposed in the body cavity and a cap that is received by the body cavity and closing the aperture. The cap includes a cap body with a peripheral portion having a peripheral surface and a chamfer surface extending away from the peripheral surface and abutting the first portion for distributing loads experienced by the puck. The cap body further includes a protruding portion extending from the peripheral portion. The protruding portion includes a lateral wall connected to the chamfer surface and defining a second connector. The second connector geometrically complementary to and engaging with the first connector to securely connect the cap with the body.
Sports training device
Innovative apparatuses and methods for a novel training device is provided that includes a base, a frame, a material attached to the frame, wherein the material comprises a non-solid material; and an image affixed to a first side of the non-solid material, wherein the image is viewable on the first side of the non-solid material and viewable on a second side of the non-solid material.
