BRAKING MECHANISMS
An eddy-current mechanism including a rotor rotatable about a rotor axis at least one electrically conductive material coupled to the rotor for rotation therewith, at least one magnet configured to apply a magnetic field extending at least partially orthogonal to the plane of rotation of the conductive member, and characterised in that upon rotation of the rotor, the conductive member is configured to move at least partially radially from the rotor axis into the applied magnetic field.
Upper and lower body push and pull exercise machine with a one directional resistance mechanism and adjustable angle
A machine for concurrently performing opposing pushing and pulling motions with the legs and arms at various angles to simulate multiple exercises including climbing, running and crawling motions, wherein the machine is adjustable in angle. The individual lower body user supports move in a back and forth pattern on rails and include foot platforms and shin support pads for support a user's lower body and pivoting upper body user support hand grips wherein the left upper body user support and left lower body user support move in opposite directions and the right upper body user support and right lower body user support move in opposite directions and all four user supports move in unison.
Virtual reality haptic system and apparatus
A virtual reality (VR) system includes a VR display and a VR movement apparatus that includes hand interfaces and foot interfaces that can support the hands and feet of a system user. The VR movement apparatus allow the user's limbs to move in 3-dimensional space that include vertical, lateral, and fore-aft direction movements. A computer running VR software coordinate and synchronizes the VR movement apparatus and the VR display to provide system users with simulated activities in a VR environment.
Devices and methods for simulating traditional rock climbing environments
An apparatus includes a frame and an access member. The frame is configured to be mounted to a structural support, and defines a first volume configured to receive at least a portion of a first insert, and a second volume configured to receive at least a portion of a second insert. The frame is configured such that when the first insert is within the first volume and the second insert is within the second volume a first engagement surface of the first insert is facing a second engagement surface of the second insert. The frame includes a first tapered surface that engages a tapered surface of the first insert to limit movement of the first insert along a lateral axis nonparallel to the longitudinal axis. The access member is configured to be coupled to the frame covering a portion of the first volume to limit movement of the first insert.
CLIMBING WALL COMPRISING TRACK-BASED SUPPORT HARNESS
The present invention is directed to a climbing wall comprising a climbing surface and a climbing assistance assembly that provides a disabled child with an opportunity to utilize the climbing wall. The climbing assistance assembly comprises a track mounted above at least a portion of the climbing surface and spanning at least a portion of the length of the climbing surface. A trolley, from which a rope is suspended, is configured to travel along the track. The rope is coupled both to the trolley and to a harness. The climbing assistance assembly may further include a fall arrest device configured to lower an end of the rope coupled to the harness from an elevated position to a rest position in a controlled manner. Because the trolley is configured to travel with a user wearing the harness as the user traverses a length of the climbing surface, the fall arrest device is positioned substantially directly above the user throughout the user's climbing experience, ensuring that if the user falls, the descent will occur in a safe and controlled manner.
Smart device
An Internet of Thing (IoT) device includes a camera coupled to a processor; and a wireless transceiver coupled to the processor. Blockchain smart contracts can be used with the device to facilitate secure operation.
Exercise Wrist Aid
An exercise device characterized by a wide hand surface (1) positioned at a downward angle with a design that allows the user to grip the underside (3) for greater stability and to position the hands in any direction necessary to perform exercises with reduced strain on the wrists and palms. The large surface area of the hand surface comfortably fits an adult palm to eliminate painful pressure points in the palm. The downward angle of the hand surface decreases the angle between the back of the hand and the forearm found in a traditional push-up position to eliminate strain associated with exercises like push-ups, planks, mountain climbers and even chest dips. The ability to grip the underside of the hand surface provides additional stability during exercise.
Unmanned aerial vehicles, videography, and control methods
Videography of surfaces and improved positional control of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) are disclosed. Embodiments include a panning piloting scenario. The panning can include control parameters relative to a normal vector to a point P of a plane representing a surface, or relative to a direction of gravity and attributes of the surface. For example, the UAV can be programmed, or controlled, to pan about the point on the plane maintaining a certain distance therefrom while rotating about angles to the normal vector. Methods of estimating a surface include determining a plane including three non-collinear points of the surface. The plane determined can be relative to the direction of gravity, such as vertically parallel to gravity. A piloting routine can include piloting a UAV to various angles relative to the vector normal to the plane and distances to the location on the surface and/or point on the plane.
ROCK CLIMBING FALL ZONES
Examples of techniques for projecting fall zones for a climber are disclosed. In one example implementation according to aspects of the present disclosure, a computer-implemented method includes detecting, by a processing device, a position of a climber on a climbing surface. The method further includes determining, by the processing device, a fall zone of the climber based at least in part on the position of the climber on the climbing surface. The method further includes projecting the fall zone of the climber on a ground surface beneath the climber, the fall zone being visible to others.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CLIMBING
Systems and methods for providing climbing walls are discussed. While such systems and methods can include any suitable component, in some cases, they include a climbing wall that has a base member and a climbing surface that includes at least one climbing hold. In some cases, the climbing surface is pivotally connected to the base member. Additionally, in some cases, the system includes an anchor that is configured to adjustably retain the climbing surface at an angle with respect to the base member. In some cases, the system further includes a camera, microphone, and/or display that are configured to allow a climber to have audio and/or visual interactions with another person in a remote location (e.g., for training, competition, etc.). In some cases, at least one climbing hold on the climbing surface comprises a sensor that is configured to indicate when a climber has used that hold. Other implementations are described.
