A controller is in communication with the wireless communication device and the watercraft. The controller is configured to receive range information corresponding to a target distance between the watercraft and the wireless communication device. The controller is further configured to receive displacement data corresponding to an actual distance between the watercraft and the wireless communication device. The controller is further configured to compare the displacement data to the range information. The controller is further configured to determine an overboard condition based on the comparison of the displacement data to the range information. The controller is further configured to communicate an instruction to control the watercraft based on the overboard condition.

HULL BEHAVIOR CONTROL SYSTEM AND MARINE VESSEL

A hull behavior control system includes a memory and at least one controller coupled to the memory. The at least one controller is configured or programmed to control a propulsion force of the marine vessel using a propeller of the marine vessel, obtain a water surface shape around the marine vessel, estimate movement of a wave based on the water surface shape, and reduce the propulsion force by controlling the propeller when it is determined that an impact force equal to or greater than a threshold value will act on the hull after the hull travels over the wave whose movement has been estimated.

REMOTE CONTROL DEVICE

A remote control device for remotely controlling a ship propulsion device provided in a ship. The remote control device includes a remote control device main body including a main body case installed on an installation surface provided in the ship, and a remote control lever attached to the main body case, a display unit provided outside the main body case, and including a display case and a display provided in the display case, and a support arm that couples the display unit and the remote control device main body to each other, and that supports the display unit such that the display unit is disposed at a position separated from the remote control device main body.

Methods and systems for controlling propulsion of a marine vessel to enhance proximity sensing in a marine environment

A propulsion control system for a marine vessel includes a plurality of propulsion devices steerable to propel the marine vessel, at least one proximity sensor that determines a relative position of the marine vessel with respect to an object, wherein the at least one proximity sensor has a field of view (FOV). A controller is configured to identify a trigger condition for expanding the FOV of the at least one proximity sensor and control thrust and/or steering position of at least one of the plurality of propulsion devices to expand the FOV of the at least one proximity sensor by inducing a roll movement or a pitch movement of the marine vessel.

WATERPROOF CONTAINER HAVING A WATERPROOF ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR

A watercraft and a waterproof electronics container are provided. The watercraft includes a flotation portion. A strut is removably affixed to a portion of the watercraft. A first connector portion is mounted to the upper end of the strut. A waterproof electronics container includes a second connector portion is disposed such that the second connector forms at least one electrically conductive pathway with the first connector portion when both are affixed to the watercraft. The waterproof electronics container is removably affixed to the said watercraft. In one aspect, the waterproof electronics container houses a power source capable of powering an electric motor that propels the watercraft.

SELF-PROPELLED HYDROFOIL SURFBOARD

A self-propelled hydrofoil surfboard includes a surfboard having a mast mounted to the lower surface of the surfboard, a selectively controllable thruster mounted at a lower end of the mast, a controller and a battery to supply power to the controller and thruster, the controller cooperating with a remote controller adapted to give control inputs to the controller and to be carried when in use by a rider, navigation lights mounted around at least a portion of the circumferential edge of the surfboard, and wherein the mast may have an adjustable length.

ELECTRIC MARINE PROPULSION SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF CONTROL

A method of controlling an electric marine propulsion system configured to propel a marine vessel including measuring at least one parameter of an electric motor in the electric marine propulsion system and determining that the parameter measurement indicates an abnormality in the electric marine propulsion system. A reduced operation limit is then determined based on the at least one parameter measurement, wherein the reduced operation limit includes at least one of a torque limit, an RPM limit, a current limit, and a power limit. The electric motor is then controlled such that the reduced operation limit is not exceeded.

Control system of marine vessel and portable device for marine vessel

A control system of a marine vessel includes a portable device and a receiving device. The portable device transmits a switch control signal to the receiving device based on an input operation. The control system of the marine vessel performs an authentication control process based on an authentication signal from the portable device, and controls opening or closing of a current path based on the switch control signal from the portable device.

Method of starting an internal combustion engine of a hybrid propulsion system in a marine vessel and a hybrid propulsion system in a marine vessel

A method of operating a marine vessel hybrid propulsion system having a propulsion shaft and a propeller, an internal combustion piston engine in force transmission connection with the propulsion shaft, and an electric motor-generator in force transmission connection with the propulsion shaft and/or with the piston engine. The internal combustion piston engine can be started by applying electric power from an on-board power source to the electric motor-generator and rotating the internal combustion piston engine by the electric motor-generator and rotational speed of the internal combustion piston engine is accelerated to a predetermined limit rotational speed without attempting to start the internal combustion piston engine, and only after the rotational speed of the internal combustion piston engine reaches the predetermined limit rotational speed, the internal combustion piston engine is started.

Method for handle-operated automatic start and stop of marine engine
11359570 · 2022-06-14 · ·

A method for automatically starting and stopping engine(s) of a vessel based on the position of a handle. Automatic starting occurs by activating an ignition circuit, receiving a signal indicating handle position, and providing a signal to start the engine when the handle is out of neutral position. A signal to shift the transmission into gear is sent when the handle is in an idle position. Automatic stopping of the engine includes receiving a signal the handle is in neutral, receiving status information of the engine, and providing a signal to stop the engine when the handle is in neutral and either the engine is not running or at least one of a number of conditions are met. A shutoff timer may delay auto stop of the engine, which may reset whenever any of the conditions ceases to be true.
