Vibration isolation mounting arrangement for outboard motor
09643703 · 2017-05-09 · ·

An arrangement is for coupling a vibration isolation mount to an outboard motor. A pocket is formed in a midsection housing of the outboard motor and defines a first concave surface. A cover is configured to be mounted to the midsection housing over the pocket via a plurality of fasteners. The cover defines a second, oppositely concave surface on an inner face thereof. When the cover is mounted to the midsection housing over the pocket, the first concave surface and the second concave surface together form a cavity therebetween for holding a vibration isolation mount therein. One of the first concave surface and the second concave surface has a protrusion that extends into the cavity and contacts the mount held therein upon tightening of the plurality of fasteners to hold the cover over mount in the pocket. A mounting arrangement is also provided.

Stern drives for marine vessels

A stern drive for a marine vessel comprises a gimbal housing that is configured for connection to the transom of the marine vessel; a gimbal ring that is steerable with respect to the gimbal housing about a vertical steering axis; a drive leg that is trimmable with respect to the gimbal ring about a horizontal trim axis, wherein the drive leg supports a propulsor for propelling the marine vessel; a trim actuator that is configured to trim the drive leg about the trim axis; and a cradle that decouples the drive leg from the transom of the marine vessel and pivots with and supports the drive leg and as the trim actuator trims the drive leg about the trim axis.

Jet propelled watercraft

A jet propelled watercraft includes a watercraft body, an engine in the watercraft body, a jet pump configured to generate a jet thrust by a driving force of the engine, an intake pipe configured to supply air to the engine, an air intake box, and a filter. The air intake box includes a connecting port connected to the intake pipe and an inlet configured to take in ambient air. The filter is disposed in a space in an internal space of the air intake box. The filter divides the space into a lower region and an upper region. The lower region is connected to the inlet and the upper region is located higher than the lower region and connected to the connecting port. The filter is configured to clean air taken into the internal space from the inlet and directed to the connecting port.

Stern drives and transom bracket assemblies for stern drives providing vibration isolation

A stern drive for a marine vessel having a transom. The stern drive has a drive assembly comprising a drive unit configured to generate a thrust force in water and a powerhead configured to power the drive unit, and a transom bracket assembly configured to support the drive unit outside of the transom and further configured to support the powerhead inside of the transom, wherein the transom bracket assembly is configured to vibrationally isolate the drive unit and powerhead relative to the transom.

A system for antifouling of a marine drive having a frame coupled to a propulsor housing may include a vibration dampening joint which couples the propulsor housing to the frame or an extension thereof. The vibration dampening joint may include an isolator connector assembly having an elastomeric member which is clamped between the propulsor housing and the frame or the extension thereof such that all vibrations emanating from the propulsor housing pass through the elastomeric member. A power source for providing electricity may be supported on the frame. An electric circuit may have a first end coupled to the power source and an opposite, second end coupled to the propulsor housing. The electric circuit may be configured to convey electricity from the power source to the propulsor housing and thus prevent fouling thereof, wherein the electric circuit extends through the vibration dampening joint.

A marine vessel includes a hull assembly, and the hull assembly includes a deck assembly, a first battery assembly, a second battery assembly and an electric motor assembly. The deck assembly is contained within the hull assembly. The first battery assembly is located completely under the deck assembly. The second battery assembly is located completely under the deck assembly and is physically separate from the first battery assembly. The electric motor assembly receives electric power from the first battery assembly and the second battery assembly to propel the hull assembly through water during operation.

Marine drives having noise and vibration isolating joint

A marine drive is for propelling a marine vessel in a body of water. The marine drive has a supporting frame configured to support the marine drive with respect to the marine vessel; an extension leg depending on the supporting frame; a motor housing depending on the extension leg, the motor housing for containing an electric motor; and a vibration isolating joint which couples the extension leg to the motor housing. The vibration isolating joint has an isolating connector assembly having an elastomeric member which is clamped between the extension leg and motor housing and configured to limit transfer of vibrations from the motor housing to the extension leg, and a compression limiter which prevents over clamping of the elastomeric member during assembly of the extension leg and the motor housing.

Outboard motor and anti-vibration structure of outboard motor

An outboard motor includes an outboard motor main body and a mount assembly to mount the outboard motor main body to a hull. The mount assembly includes a clamp bracket to be fixed to the hull, a swivel bracket to support the outboard motor main body, and a hydraulic cylinder. The swivel bracket is coupled to the clamp bracket through a tilt shaft and turnable around the tilt shaft. The hydraulic cylinder is located between the clamp bracket and the swivel bracket and is able to turn the swivel bracket around the tilt shaft with respect to the clamp bracket. The outboard motor includes a gas damper to damp an external force that acts in a telescopic direction of the hydraulic cylinder.

Marine drives having noise and vibration isolating joint

A marine drive is for propelling a marine vessel in a body of water. The marine drive has a motor housing, the motor housing having a first housing portion and a second housing portion which together define a motor cavity; an electric motor nested in the first housing portion, the electric motor being configured to cause rotation of an output shaft extending from the first housing portion; and a propulsor coupled to the output shaft so that rotation of the output shaft causes rotation of the propulsor. A vibration isolating joint couples first housing portion to the second housing portion. The vibration isolating joint comprising an isolating connector assembly has an elastomeric member which is clamped between the first housing portion and the second housing portion and being configured to limit transfer of vibrations from the first housing portion to the second housing portion, and a compression limiter which prevents over clamping of the elastomeric member during assembly of the motor housing.
