A system, apparatus, and method for constructing or providing a ride surface for an amusement attraction, such as an inflatable surfing attraction. The ride surface may be formed via the connection of a plurality of ride surface portions or segments. A mechanism may be incorporated to smooth the ride surface and define a more continuous ride surface between the plurality of ride surface portions or segments.

The present disclosure relates, in one embodiment, to an unstable surface training apparatus. An active suspension orthotic support system is disclosed. The present invention is a shipping container water displacement activated wave generating device for use in a body of water. The wave generating device preferably has displacement forming characteristics that help to create laminar waves which then transverse a slope or artificial surfing reef to create waves which surfing maneuvers can be performed. The water displacement device is a wave container, which is oscillated up and down by mechanical means and the container displaces water to form a swell toward the slope or reefs and creates a wave for surfing.

A wave pool for generating surfable waves is disclosed. The wave pool includes a pool for containing water. The pool defines a channel having a first side wall, a second side wall, and a bottom with a contour that slopes upward from a deep area proximate the first side wall toward a sill defined by the second side wall. The wave pool further includes at least one foil at least partially submerged in the water near the side wall, and being adapted for movement by a moving mechanism in a direction along the side wall for generating a wave in the channel that forms a breaking wave on the sill. The wave pool further includes one or more passive flow control mechanisms to mitigate a mean flow of the water induced by the movement of the at least one foil in the direction along the side wall.

A wave pool and wave generating mechanism are disclosed. The wave pool includes a bathymetry that includes a dynamically shapeable reef along a length or circumference of a channel that defines the wave pool. The wave generating mechanism includes a foil that has a shape for bi-directionality based on an adjustment of a yaw angle of the foil. The foil can be further controlled to increase or decrease certain surface areas or other angles of interacting with water in the wave pool.
