There is disclosed a watercraft paddle apparatus operable by a user's legs and feet. In an embodiment, the watercraft paddle apparatus comprises a pair of rails positioned side-by-side and mountable to a watercraft, each rail configured to slidably receive a pedal mechanism adapted to slide back and forth along each rail. Each pedal mechanism includes a downwardly extendable paddle adapted to engage a water surface on which the watercraft is floating during a backward stride and to lift from the water surface on a forward stride, whereby a user can operate the pedal mechanism in each rail using an alternating walking or skiing motion. In an embodiment, each pedal mechanism is supported laterally by a front axle with a pair of wheels on either end of the front axle engaging the parallel rails. In another embodiment, each pedal mechanism is attached.

A failure prediction system having small boats operable by operators, each mounted with an outboard motor equipped with an engine and an Electronic Control Unit and a computer located in a land office connected to the ECU. The ECU acquires boat ID assigned to one small boat on which one operator boards and his personal ID, accesses the computer to acquire past manipulation data of the acquired personal ID for all boats, acquires manipulation data of the one operator during current run, merge the data with past data to generate merged data. Then, it select a parameter in the generated data and set a normal value range by the parameter, assesses whether parameter in the data during current run is within the range, and determines the outboard motor mounted on the one boat is in failure when the parameter is out of the range.

Hydraulic steering system for a watercraft

A steering system for a watercraft has steering position sensors sensing a steering position of first and second outboard motors, hydraulic steering actuators for steering the outboard motors, a hydraulic helm selectively supplying hydraulic fluid to the steering actuators, at least one valve for reversing a direction of flow of hydraulic fluid into the steering actuators, and a steering controller. The steering controller executes a realignment process including: receiving signals indicative of the steering positions of the outboard motors from the steering position sensors; based at least in part on the signals, determining if the outboard motors are misaligned; and, if the outboard motors are misaligned, actuating the at least one valve to direct the flow of hydraulic fluid into a corresponding steering actuator in a direction opposite to that corresponding to an active steering direction set by the hydraulic helm so as to reduce misalignment of the outboard motors.

A steering system for a vessel includes an electric actuator that generates power to rotate a steering wheel, a transmitting mechanism that transmits a rotation of the electric actuator to the steering wheel, and a power supply controller that supplies electric power to the electric actuator according to an input signal that is not based on a rotation of the steering wheel.

Systems and methods for steering marine propulsion devices

A system for steering marine propulsion devices. Steering actuators are configured to change steering angles of the marine propulsion devices. A control system is operatively connected to the steering actuators. The control system is configured to receive a steering request for steering a first device among the marine propulsion devices, compare a steering angle of the first device to a steering angle of a second device among the marine propulsion devices, and control the steering actuators to steer the first device only when the steering angle of the first device is within a threshold range of the steering angle of the second device.

A vehicle steering system includes a control steering wheel, a transmission system, and a steering actuator, the control steering wheel being configured to generate steering signals, transmitted to the steering actuator through the transmission system. The control steering wheel is fixedly mounted and comprises a sensor system configured to detect the position of one or both of a user's hands on the grip of the control steering wheel, the generation of steering signals being performed based on the variation of the position of one or both of the hands along the grip of the control steering wheel.

Marine steering system and method of providing steering feedback

A steering system on a marine vessel includes a steering wheel movable by a vessel operator to steer the marine vessel and a variable resistance device controllable to apply a variable resistance amount to resist movement of the steering wheel. The system includes a control unit that controls the variable resistance device to determine a baseline resistance amount based on vessel speed and/or engine RPM and detect at least a threshold change in angular position of the marine vessel. The control unit then controls the variable resistance device to prevent a decrease in the resistance amount below the baseline resistance amount or to increase the resistance amount above the baseline resistance amount.

Steering wheel power assembly

The present invention is directed to systems for providing a pathway for at least one electrical conductor to supply current from a vehicle or marine craft power source to a steering wheel comprising at least one working element for heating or controls. The present invention utilizes a brush and slip ring assemblies inside a hub for infinite rotation of the steering wheel while still maintaining a path for current to travel through the hub to the wheel.
