A catamaran oil production apparatus is disclosed for producing oil in a marine environment. The apparatus includes first and second vessels that are spaced apart during use. A first frame spans between the vessels. A second frame spans between the vessels. The frames are spaced apart and connected to the vessels in a configuration that spaces the vessels apart. The first frame connects to the first vessel with a universal joint and to the second vessel with a hinged connection. The second frame connects to the second vessel with a universal joint and to the first vessel with a hinged or pinned connection. At least one of the frames supports an oil production platform. One or more risers or riser pipes extends from the seabed (e.g., at a wellhead) to the production platform (or platforms). In one embodiment, the production apparatus includes crew quarters.

A steering assist unit for a tiller handle of an outboard motor includes a housing, a pump, and a hydraulic actuator. The housing is connected to the tiller handle. The pump is housed in the housing. The hydraulic actuator is driven by hydraulic fluid from the pump. The hydraulic actuator applies an assist steering force to the outboard motor.

Ship handling device and ship including the same

A ship handling device including a joystick lever configured to be inclined in a desired direction at a desired angle, and a ship handling control device configured to control driving of a forward-backward propeller generating a thrust in a front-and-rear direction of a ship body and a thruster generating a thrust in a left-and-right direction of the ship body. The ship handling control device has a normal mode in which driving of the forward-backward propeller and the thruster is controlled according to an input signal from the joystick lever, and a thruster single-driven mode in which driving of only the thruster is controlled according to an input signal from the joystick lever, and the ship handling control device is connected to a mode changing switch with which a switchover between the normal mode and the thruster single-driven mode is performed.

OUTBOARD MOTOR

An outboard motor includes: an outboard motor body including a propeller driven by an internal combustion engine; a mounting portion configured to mount the outboard motor body to a hull so as to be movable relative to the hull; and an operation mechanism provided between the outboard motor body and the mounting portion and configured to adjust a relative position of the outboard motor body with respect to the hull. The operation mechanism is a link-type operation mechanism including a hydraulic cylinder as an actuator.

Propulsion devices with lock devices and methods of making propulsion devices with lock devices for marine vessels

A propulsion device for a marine vessel. The propulsion device includes a base configured to be coupled to the marine vessel. A propulsor is pivotally coupled to the base and pivotable into and between a deployed position and a stowed position. The propulsor is configured to propel the marine vessel in water when in the deployed position. A lock device has a rigid member and is selectively engageable such that the rigid member prevents the propulsor from pivoting away from the stowed position.
