An elevator system includes a shaft extending between at least two decks of a vehicle. A base of the shaft is mounted to a deck structure of at least two decks by a coupling mechanism that accommodates flexing of the deck structure to enable the deck structure to flex independently of the base of the shaft. The elevator system further includes a cab within the shaft. The cab is movable between the at least two decks. The elevator system also includes a pneumatic system in selective communication with an interior of the shaft.

Crown cabin configuration for an aircraft

An aircraft configuration having a crown cabin above a main cabin, with the crown cabin having a hanging floor structure. This enables a fuselage design that substantially increases passenger seating capacity relative to traditional single-passenger-deck configurations, while minimizing fuselage perimeter and fuselage wetted area relative to double-passenger-deck configurations.

An aircraft includes a passenger cabin having a floor, a cargo compartment below the floor, a first access unit for accessing the cargo compartment from the passenger cabin, the first access unit being located on the floor and a utility space module arranged in the cargo. At least one part of the cargo compartment includes a first lateral half and a second lateral half in relation to a longitudinal axis of the aircraft; the lateral halves form the part of the cargo compartment. The utility space module includes a utility space cross-section in a direction normal to the longitudinal axis, which is dimensioned such that it conforms to a cross-section of one of the lateral halves of the cargo compartment. Further, the utility space module is placed exclusively in the first lateral half or the second lateral half of the cargo compartment directly below the first access unit.

Aircraft fuselage and module for absorbing crash energy in a lower deck, used for transporting passengers, of an aircraft

A module an aircraft fuselage includes a support device including a lower end for connection to a fuselage structure in a lower deck of the fuselage, an upper end for connection to an intermediate floor in the fuselage, and an energy absorption element between the upper end and the lower end. A wall panel is connected to the support device and extends along a longitudinal axis and a circumferential direction. In case of a defined crash of an underside of the aircraft fuselage, the energy absorption element is configured to undergo a defined plastic deformation and absorb a defined amount of kinetic energy of that a part of the fuselage structure connected to the lower end of the support device. The plastic deformation and amount of absorbed energy are of a magnitude that in case of defined crash, the module is configured where the fuselage structure will, at the underside of the aircraft fuselage, deform no more than a minimum height.

An aircraft may include a cabin having a first portion, a second portion, a first ramp and a second ramp. The first portion of the cabin may include an upper deck and a lower deck. The upper deck and the lower deck may be disposed proximate to each other with vertical separation therebetween. The second portion may include an intermediate deck disposed in a plane that is substantially parallel to planes in which the upper deck and the lower deck lie. The intermediate deck may be vertically separated from both the upper deck and the lower deck. The first ramp may extend between the lower deck and the intermediate deck to provide access therebetween. The second ramp may extend between the upper deck and the intermediate deck to provide access therebetween.
