Rotor blade having variable twist
A rotor blade including a root portion adapted to be connected to a helicopter rotor hub for rotation therewith, the root portion having a first edge surface; a first movable member having a first movable surface adjacent to the first edge surface; a first elastomeric joint disposed between the root portion and the first movable member, the first elastomeric joint having an inner surface facing the first edge surface of the root portion and an outer surface facing the movable surface of the first movable member; and an actuating system mounted within the root portion and the first movable member for moving the first movable member. The first elastomeric joint deforms to adjust for shear from actuation of the first movable member to a first position during helicopter mode; and to a second position during airplane mode.
Rotorcraft Centrifugal Force Bearing
A centrifugal force (CF) bearing for a rotorcraft rotor assembly includes an inner-member, an outer-member, and an elastic member interposed between the inner- and outer-members. The outer-member includes an upper flange extension and a lower flange extension for location to and engagement with a grip. The upper flange extension is disposed over an upper surface portion of the elastic member, and the lower flange extension is disposed under a lower surface portion of the elastic member. The CF bearing is configured for attachment to a grip of the rotor assembly. The outer-member is configured to communicate mechanical loads (e.g., centrifugal force, lateral shear, vertical shear) from the grip to the yoke during operation of the rotor assembly.

Rotor hub elastomeric bearings
An apparatus comprising a drivelink comprising a housing including a socket, wherein the socket comprises a cross-sectional area, and a bearing cartridge disposed within the socket, wherein a cross-sectional area of the cartridge is less than the cross-sectional area of the socket. An apparatus comprising a drivelink comprising a housing having a socket, and a bearing cartridge positioned within the socket and comprising a first portion and a second portion, wherein the first portion is configured to undergo compression when a load is applied to the drivelink, and wherein the second portion is configured to not be in tension when the load is applied to the drivelink.

ELASTOMERIC BEARING COMPONENT WITH WEDGE-SHAPED SHIMS
A component of a laminated bearing assembly is for movably coupling an inner member and an outer member, the inner member having a central axis and the outer member having a bore. The component includes a laminated body disposeable within the outer member bore and having an inner radial end connectable with the inner member and an outer radial end connectable with the outer member. The body is formed of a plurality of alternating, generally arcuate elastomeric and metallic laminae nested generally about the central axis, each one of the elastomeric and metallic laminae having opposing first and second arcuate ends and inner and outer circumferential surfaces extending circumferentially between the first and second arcuate ends. Each metallic lamina has a radial thickness varying circumferentially between a first value at the first, radially-widest arcuate end and a second, lesser value at the second, radially-narrowest arcuate end.
Rotorcraft Centrifugal Force Bearing
A centrifugal force (CF) bearing for a rotorcraft rotor assembly includes an inner-member, an outer-member, and an elastic member interposed between the inner- and outer-members. The inner-member includes a boss configured for location to and engagement with a yoke. The boss includes a tapered profile (e.g., conic) portion. A tapered recess region of the yoke includes a profile that is substantially matched to receive and contact the tapered profile of the boss. The CF bearing is configured for attachment to a grip of the rotor assembly. The boss is configured to communicate mechanical loads (e.g., centrifugal force, lateral shear, vertical shear) from the grip to the yoke during operation of the rotor assembly.
