A system for monitoring passenger chair components is disclosed. In embodiments, the system includes a seat control module communicatively coupled with one or more components of a passenger chair. The system may further include an inflight entertainment unit communicatively coupled to the seat control module. The inflight entertainment unit can be configured to receive diagnostic and usage information associated with the one or more components from the seat control module. The system may further include an aircraft server communicatively coupled to the seat control module and/or to the inflight entertainment unit. The aircraft server can be configured to receive the diagnostic and usage information from the seat control module and/or the inflight entertainment unit, and can be further configured to transmit the diagnostic and usage information to a ground server.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR STORING CONTENT FOR A VEHICLE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM
20200070983 · 2020-03-05 ·

Networking methods and systems are provided for a transportation vehicle with seat devices. One method includes detecting operational software installation for a first seat device to access an entertainment system with media files of a virtual local storage (VLS) media set distributed across storage of a portion of the seat devices; identifying a second seat device configured to store the operational software in a downloadable configuration; providing the operational software in the downloadable configuration to the first seat device; installing the operational software at the first seat device; determining that the first seat device is a member of the VLS media set, based on a location of the first seat; transmitting a portion of the VLS media set from one or more seat devices to the first seat device; and persistently storing the portion of the VLS media set at persistent storage of the first seat device.

Systems and methods for providing quick release of video monitors from an assembly

A quick release assembly for use in mounting a display system to a fixture. The system includes an attachment assembly on a back side of the display system that receives pins from a mounting bracket into openings of lock modules that include a latch that holds at least one pin in place. The latch is held in the lock position by spring bias. An actuator wire made of a shape memory alloy contracts when an electrical current is applied. The contraction of the wire overcomes the spring bias to move the latch from the lock position to an unlocked position to allow the display system to be removed from the pin.

System and method for providing an integrated user interface system at a seat

A light-weight and low-power integrated system module suitable for installation at a passenger seat disposed aboard a passenger vehicle and methods for manufacturing and using same. By integrating selected interface system components with the associated interconnections, the integrated system module provides an intuitive user interface system for interacting with a passenger entertainment system. The integrated system module can be installed within a seatback of the passenger seat that compliments the look and feel of the user interface system, creating an immersive entertainment experience during travel.

Display screen mount

A display screen mount mounts a display screen (6) to the rear of a seat (1). The mount includes a guide which defines a guide path to guide the display screen support (7) from a stowed position to a deployed position. The guide path also allows for adjustment of the viewing angle in the deployed position. The guide path has a linear portion (105) along which the display screen support (7) is guided into a deployed position in which the screen is visible to the user and a non-linear portion (106) which allows different viewing angles of the display screen (6) to be adopted in the deployed position.

Seat system

A seat system for a passenger aircraft. The seat system includes at least one passenger seat and a stowable clamshell holder for a personal electronic device installed into the back of the passenger seat. The personal electronic device (PED) holder includes a door adapted to be movable between an open position and a closed position and a pair of opposed retainers adapted to hold a personal electronic device. The pair of retainers includes a lower back retainer and an upper front retainer whereby the lower back retainer extends above the upper front retainer. The seat system may further include a seat back tray table attached to the back of the passenger seat.

COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
20200020225 · 2020-01-16 ·

A communication system includes a first terminal and a second terminal including an stow part for stowing the first terminal. The first terminal includes a first light emitter that emits infrared light, a first light receiver that receives infrared light, and a first controller. The first controller causes the first light emitter to emit light based on first specifying information upon receiving a pairing request signal via the first light receiver. The second terminal includes a second stow sensor that detects stow of the first terminal, a second light emitter that emits infrared light, a second light receiver that receives infrared light, and a second controller. The second controller causes the second light emitter to emit light based on a pairing request signal in accordance with detection of stow of the first terminal by the second stow sensor and performs control corresponding to the information including the first specifying information.

PASSENGER COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A communication system for a vehicle seat includes a visual indicator having a lighting mechanism configured to display a plurality of colors, a control portion electrically connected to the visual indicator, and a plurality of modes. Each mode may be associated with one of the plurality of Selection of one of the plurality of modes causes the control portion to signal the lighting mechanism to display the color associated with the selected mode.
