A data storage system for providing entertainment content to terminal devices in a passenger vehicle is provided to comprise: a first group of terminal devices configured to operate as storage nodes of a storage cluster configured to provide the entertainment content to media playback devices disposed in the passenger vehicle, the entertainment content including one or more entertainment programs and the storage nodes configured to store blocks of the one or more entertainment programs; a second group of terminal devices configured to operate as monitor nodes in the storage cluster, the monitor nodes configured to monitor status of the storage nodes; and a host in communication with the first group and the second group of the terminal devices via an in-vehicle network and configured to store metadata for the storage cluster and facilitate delivery of the entertainment content from the first group of terminal devices to the media playback devices.

Examples for logical to physical mapping of aircraft electronic components are presented. A system may include aircraft electronic components coupled sequentially to a power wire, corresponding controllers, and a master computing device. The computing device may receive a first identifier for a first component from a first controller in response to the first controller receiving power at a first time from the power wire and a second identifier for a second component from a second controller in response to the second controller receiving power at a second time from the power wire. The second time is subsequent to the first time. The computing device determines locations for the first and second component within the aircraft based on an order of reception of the identifiers.

A method and system for an electrically switchable window system for an aerospace vehicle. The electrically switchable window system comprises electrically switchable windows and a window controller system connected to the electrically switchable windows. The window controller system receives a group of wireless signals from an onboard network system that controls systems in the aerospace vehicle and changes voltages applied to the electrically switchable windows when the group of wireless signals are received. The changes in the voltages change an amount of light passing through the electrically switchable windows.

A method and a distributed architecture for controlling functions of an aircraft comprising: a controller, an Input/Output (IO) node and a processor configured to display a graphical user interface component representing at least a portion of an aircraft cabin divided into at least two sections on the IO node and receive, by the IO node, a first and a second input from a user for selecting one of the at least two sections and selecting a preset of at least one controllable parameter respectively. Upon determining that the user requests a modification of the selected preset for the selected section, a preset setting menu including the at least one controllable parameter associated with the selected preset is displayed; a third input from the user for modifying the at least one controllable parameter is received and a modified preset based on the modified at least one controllable parameter is generated.

A seat system for a passenger aircraft. The seat system includes at least one passenger seat and a stowable tray installed onto or adjacent to the passenger seat. The stowable tray includes a tray plate adapted to support one or more items; a support arm attached to the tray plate adapted to move the tray plate between a stowable position and a presentation position; and a friction hinge attaching the tray plate to the support arm and adapted to adjust the tray plate between the presentation position and a tray position, wherein the tray plate is adapted to support a personal electronic device while in the presentation position and adapted to support one or more cocktail items while in the tray position. Methods and systems are provided for a transportation vehicle. One method includes parsing by a processor on an aircraft, metadata of media content received by the aircraft, while the aircraft is in flight, the media content includes a media file and the metadata. The metadata indicates a start date when the media content can be presented to a device on the aircraft and an end date when media content is to become inaccessible. The method further includes dynamically generating a unique identifier for the media content by the processor, the unique identifier based on an aircraft identifier; updating the metadata by the processor by associating the unique identifier with the media content; storing the media content with the updated metadata and an indicator when the media content is to be deleted; and using the unique identifier by the processor for tracking usage of the media content on the aircraft.
