Method and Apparatus for Detecting Seatbelt Compliance in Commercial Passenger Aircraft
20210253255 · 2021-08-19 ·

A seatbelt detection system detects seatbelt use in each seat of a passenger aircraft to produce safety-compliance data. A computer system, which is communicatively coupled to the seatbelt detection system, generates a time-based record of the safety-compliance data. The computer system can use the time-based record to adapt cabin operations policy, including cabin temperature, cabin lighting, illumination of seatbelt signs, scheduling of meal or drink service, timing of inflight announcements, or the availability of in-flight entertainment.

Safety system initiator with electronically adjustable fire time
11034318 · 2021-06-15 · ·

In a triggering system for activating a safety device, an acceleration sensor outputs a signal for a time duration in which an acceleration impulse exceeds an acceleration magnitude threshold. A first switching device receives the signal output by the acceleration sensor, and electrically connects a power supply to at least one safety response device for the time duration. A time delay device, upon completion of a delay time after receiving the signal output by the acceleration sensor, outputs a signal for the time duration. A second switching device receives the signal output by the time delay device, and electrically connects the power supply to the at least one safety response device for the time duration. When the time duration exceeds the delay time, the first switching device and the second switching device concurrently electrically connect the safety response device to the power supply, activating the safety response device.

A leg restraint system for an ejection seat may comprise a leg restraint and a reel assembly coupled to the leg restraint. The reel assembly may include a drum configured to rotate about an axis. The leg restraint may be configured to wind around the drum in response to rotation of the drum about the axis.

INFLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM USING VIDEO OBJECT RECOGNITION TO MONITOR SEAT AREAS AND GENERATE FLIGHT CREW NOTIFICATIONS

An object recognition computer for a vehicle includes at least one processor and at least one memory storing program code executable by the at least one processor to perform operations. The operations are configured to receive video streams from a plurality of cameras spaced apart within the vehicle and each having a field-of-view capturing at least one passenger seat. For each of the video streams, the operations retrieve from a data structure information that defines a region within video frames of the video stream where object recognition is to be performed to attempt to identify a defined object associated with the at least one passenger seat. The operations then perform object recognition limited to within the defined region to identify the defined object. Notifications can be selectively generated to passengers and/or crew based on the object recognition.

The aircraft seatbelt buckle fasten indication system comprises a monitoring circuit, a plurality of tracking structures, a plurality of lap belts, and a plurality of vehicle seats. Each of the plurality of tracking structures attaches to a lap belt selected from the plurality of lap belts. Each individual tracking structure selected from the plurality of tracking structures attaches to a lap belt selected from the plurality of lap belts such that the selected individual tracking structure monitors the status of the lap belt. The status of the lap belt is selected from the group consisting of: a) the lap belt is properly fastened; and, b) the lap belt is not properly fastened. The monitoring circuit monitors each of the plurality of tracking structures to individually determine the status of each individual lap belt. The monitoring circuit provides a visual display of the status of each individual lap belt.
