PROTECTIVE MOUTHGUARD
The present disclosure describes a polymer mouthguard for protecting the teeth of a wearer. The mouthguard includes a lingual portion, a facial portion, and an occlusal portion connected with one another in the shape of an arch and together defining a trough for receiving the upper (maxillary) or lower (mandibular) teeth of a wearer. At least one, or both, of the facial portion and the occlusal portion have a shock absorbing lattice formed therein. The mouthguard can be produced as a single object by the process of additive manufacturing (e.g., stereolithography).
Methods for making multilayer dental aligners
A multilayer sheet comprising first and second layers is provided. The first layer consists of a co-polyester. The second layer consists of a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer having an elongation at break of greater than 200%, a hardness of 60A to 85D, an ultimate tensile strength of greater than about 5000 psi, and a light transmission between 400 nm and 800 nm of greater than about 75%. A mold is provided and the multilayer sheet is thermoformed over the mold to form a plurality of tooth-receiving cavities configured to receive and reposition a patient's teeth from a first arrangement toward a second arrangement. Excess material is trimmed from the thermoformed multilayer sheet to form a multilayer dental aligner.
Instrumented intra-oral appliance computationally designed for optimized fitting and functionality
A computationally-designed instrumented intra-oral appliance to optimize the location and coupling of sensors to optimize data integrity while maximizing comfort for the wearer.
MOUTHGUARD INCLUDING BREATHING CHANNELS
A mouthguard according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a teeth engagement portion having a medial surface. An anterior surface is coupled to the teeth engagement portion opposite the medial surface. A first breathing channel extends from the anterior surface to the medial surface. A second breathing channel extends from the anterior surface to the medial surface. A third breathing channel extends from the anterior surface to the medial surface. A first interior wall is disposed between the first breathing channel and the second breathing channel. The first interior wall is configured to be aligned with a first upper incisor of a wearer. A second interior wall is disposed between the second breathing channel and the third breathing channel. The second interior wall is configured to be aligned with a second upper incisor of the wearer.
Systems and methods for integrating electronics into a mouth guard
Mouth guard that includes a flexible printed circuit board encapsulated within a base member is provided. The flexible printed circuit board includes multiple separate stiff sections spaced apart from each other within the base member. One or more electronic devices are disposed within the base member. In particular, the one or more electronics are disposed on the base member.
PROTECTIVE HEADBAND
The present disclosure relates to a protective garment, such as a protective headband, such as a protective headband that may reduce the risk of head injuries for football (soccer) players by reducing the impact of blows, falls as well as being hit by and heading to the ball.
Dual use exercise whitener appliance
A jaw-joint protective device is provided for, whitening and brightening a wearer's teeth while protecting the teeth, tongue, lips, jaw, and other delicate structures of the vital cranial triad (VCT) from injury and/or for supporting the condyle of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) in a relatively fixed (stable) position thereby stabilizing the jaw and the VCT during head contact activity, exercise, physical rehabilitation, C-force acceleration, teeth grinding disorders and sleep apnea and or permit the components of a VCT disorder to be realigned for proper healing. This device is an over-the-counter purchased, boil and bite device for whitening at least one tooth while protecting the jaw-joint, providing maxillary and mandibular teeth seats for protection of the mouth and/or healing of the VCT. This invention provides a device for customized fitting that is purchased over-the-counter that is versatile for protecting not only the mouth but also a larger area, the vital cranial triad which includes the TMJ, while at the same time allows for audible speech, reduces sleep disorders of snoring, grinding and clenching of teeth with additional benefits.
Mouthguard with tapered breathing channel
A mouthguard according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a pair of spaced lateral bite wings, a conduit defining an air channel extending between forward portions of the lateral bite wings, and a lip shield member and/or a flange disposed around and extending radially outward with respect to a forward end of the conduit. The conduit is tapered inward from its forward end toward its rearward end, and defines an incisor engaging surface proximate the rearward end of the conduit, and a lip engaging surface between the incisor engaging surface and the forward end of the conduit.
ORAL DEVICE AND METHODS TO PROTECT THE MOUTH OF A USER
In some embodiments, an oral device can include a curved frame, a first bite block, and a second bite block. The first bite block can be coupled to a first end of the curved frame and the second bite block can be coupled to a second end of the curved frame. A first wing coupled to the first bite block and a second wing coupled to the second bite block can be configured to corral a tongue of a user such that the tongue of the user is restrained from contacting a tooth engaging surface of the left bite block or the right bite block when the oral device is disposed in a mouth of the user. The oral device can be symmetrical about a plane including a portion of the frame, a portion of the first bite block, and a portion of the second bite block.
Energy Absorbing Blends
A composite material which is elastic, which exhibits a resistive load under deformation which increases with the rate of deformation, which is unfoamed or foamed, comminuted or uncomminuted and which comprises i) a first polymer-based elastic material and ii) a second polymer-based material, different from i), which exhibits dilatancy in the absence of i) wherein ii) is entrapped in a solid matrix of i), the composite material being unfoamed or, when foamed, preparable by incorporating ii) with i) prior to foaming.
