Mouth guard having low-profile printed circuit board for sensing and notification of impact forces
A mouth guard senses impact forces and determines if the forces exceed an impact threshold. If so, the mouth guard notifies the user of the risk for injury by haptic feedback, vibratory feedback, and/or audible feedback. The mouth guard system may also remotely communicate the status of risk and the potential injury. The mouth guard uses a local memory device to store impact thresholds based on personal biometric information obtained from the user and compares the sensed forces relative to those threshold values. The mouth guard and its electrical components on the printed circuit board are custom manufactured for the user such that the mouth guard provides a comfortable and reliable fit, while ensuring exceptional performance.
PROCESSING OF DATA COLLECTED VIA AN INSTRUMENTED MOUTHGAURD DEVICE, INCLUDING IDENTIFICATION OF FALSE IMPACTS
The present disclosure relates to technology adapted for improved assessment of brain injuries in a human subject. For example, in some embodiments the invention relates to improved processing of data collected via an instrumented mouthguard device, including identification of false impacts. It will be appreciated that the invention is not limited to such a field of use, and is applicable in broader contexts. For example, the technology may be applied to detect other changes in physical performance, beyond head injuries. Furthermore, the technology may be applied in respect of other wearable devices which detect/measure head impacts, for example helmets.
Pad assemblies for a protective sports helmet
A pad assembly is provided for use with a protective sports helmet in a contact sport, the helmet having an opening. The pad assembly includes a pad member within a pad housing, and a retainer having a projection that fits within the helmet opening. The pad assembly also includes a cap detachably coupled to the retainer, the cap including a base portion that fits within the helmet opening and a flange portion that fits within a countersunk recess disposed around the helmet opening, the cap detachably receiving the projection of the retainer. A protective sports helmet having a pad assembly is also provided.
Additive printing of an airway and oxygen enhancement mouthpiece
The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for manufacturing a mouthpiece with desired dimensions or thicknesses that may enhance the performance of an individual when participating in a contact sport. Mouthpieces and methods consistent with the present disclosure may include incremental steps of three dimensional printing that use different materials. Dimensions and materials used when manufacturing mouthpieces of the present disclosure may be optimized according to user preferences or settings.
INTERCHANGEABLE MOUTH SHIELD
The interchangeable mouth shields disclosed herein include a lip-anterior portion and teeth tray that can be releasably coupled together. The lip-anterior portion includes a panel positioned anterior to a lip shield. The panel can be customized to be different shapes and have decorative features. The interchangeable mouth shield includes a vent enabling a user to breathing through the interchangeable mouth shield during use. The teeth tray can be selectively flavored.
Mouth guard having user-notification feature of impact force
Intra-oral electroencephalography device and method
A mouthpiece for being worn on the upper dentition of a user includes electrodes and a microprocessor that operate as an electroencephalograph for detecting electrical activity in the user's brain. The mouthpiece may be useful in a variety of applications, such as athletics, gaming, and personal hobbies.
Mouthguard with light emitting function
The present invention discloses a mouthguard with light emitting function. The mouthguard with light emitting function includes an occlusion unit which is bitten by teeth between the maxilla and the mandible of a wearer. A front end of the occlusion unit is provided with a protector which includes a holding chamber. The mouthguard also includes a lower cap, which is disposed in the holding chamber of the protector; an electric module, which is disposed in the lower cap and includes a control circuit, light emitting devices and a push button; and an upper cap, which covers the electric module to clip and fix with the lower cap. By pressing the push button, the light emitting devices are activated to emit light, thereby achieving the effect of alerting and highlighting.
Oral device having wedges and method of manufacture
An oral device may include a body. The body may have a main portion having an arch-shaped central portion, a first side portion extending from a first end of the central portion, and a second side portion extending from a second end of the central portion. The body may further include a first wedge portion provided on a bottom surface of the first side portion, and a second wedge portion provided on a bottom surface of the second side portion. Each of the first wedge portion and the second wedge portion may have a varying thickness.
Mouthguard including a protection portion having heating and softening features
A mouthguard according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes an occlusion portion that is configured to be disposed between and engaged by at least some of the upper teeth and at least some of the lower teeth of a wearer. The mouthguard further includes a protection portion coupled to the occlusion portion. The protection portion is configured to be disposed laterally and anteriorly relative to the upper teeth of the wearer. The protection portion includes an interior surface that is configured to face toward the teeth of the wearer. The protection portion further includes an exterior surface opposite the interior surface and configured to face away from the teeth of the wearer. At least a portion of the exterior surface is a textured surface.
