Airbag deployable data recorder for aircraft
A method and an apparatus for deploying flight data from an aircraft. A bag is stored in a deflated state on the aircraft. The flight data is stored on a memory device coupled to the bag. The bag is inflated from the deflated state to the inflated state in response to a pressure level greater than a threshold pressure level to deploy the bag with the memory device coupled thereto from the aircraft.

UNDERWATER LOCATOR DEVICE (ULD) PARTICLE SUPPRESSOR/TRAP
An avionics unit assembly for an aircraft includes an avionics unit such as an underwater locator device (ULD) having a transmitter configured to output a radio frequency pulse and a battery configured to power the device. The avionics unit assembly can further include a housing that encases the transmitter and the battery and includes a vent port for exhausting an emission from the housing during a failure of the avionics unit. The avionics unit assembly can further include one or more of a suppressor that filters the emission, a shield element that is resistant to chemical and/or thermal effects of the emission, and a bracket for mounting the avionics unit assembly to a surface. The suppressor can include a plurality of channels, where each channel includes at least one blind alley that can capture/filter a particulate component and/or a liquid component from the emission and/or break up the particulate component.
Water landing parachute trap and method
Systems and methods for aerially delivering cargo into a body of water while avoiding parachute entrapment and entanglement are described. The system includes a parachute having a canopy and suspension lines. The system further includes a weight coupled to a first end of the suspension lines and a ring that is configured to float in the body of water. The weight is coupled to the cargo, and the ring is disposed between the weight and the canopy with the suspension lines passing through the center of the ring.

AUTONOMOUS AIRCRAFT LOCATOR SYSTEM
Embodiments of emergency locating devices are described. In one embodiment, an emergency device includes a fixed part and a breakaway part, with the fixed part sized and shaped to receive the breakaway part, and wherein the breakaway part is buoyant in water and includes a signaling device that can transmit a distress signal.

Methods and system to assist search and interception of lost objects
Devices and methods for aiding a large area search for objects. A searcher transmits interrogation signals of long range relative to the return range to be received by a device at the target object. The target device responds with a ping signal modified to be more easily found by means of information contained in the interrogation signal. The information may be in the nature of the received signal or data encoded and embedded. The target device may use a microprocessor to do complex operations using the information from the interrogation signal and other information. Detection of a weak ping is facilitated by such means as being beamed in the direction of the interrogation, arriving at a predictable time, or having parameters adapted to values requested by the searcher. The object is then intercepted with help of the ping or other signals from the device.
