Blown flying wing CTOL/VTOL tailsitter aircraft

Disclosed embodiments include a blown flying wing tailsitter aircraft leveraging distributed electric propulsion to enable a combination of exceptional aerodynamic performance and high bandwidth control in both vertical (hovering) and horizontal flight. A pilot in one disclosed embodiment may be in the prone position during cruise and standing during vertical flight phase to enable greater aerodynamic efficiency with minimal engineering complexity and a small landing footprint. Batteries may be disposed in a high-volume wing sealed off from the piloted compartment to increase the safety of the pilot while distributing the inertial load of batteries and motors across the wingspan, thus enabling a lighter and simpler structure. Propellers may be above head-level for operational safety when the aircraft is standing on the ground.

AIRCRAFT LANDING GEAR MONITORING AND ALERTING SYSTEM AND METHOD

A landing gear monitoring and alerting system includes a locking pin configured to be inserted into an aperture extending through a linkage of an extended landing gear assembly. When inserted into the aperture, the locking pin inhibits movement of the linkage to establish a locked state of the extended landing gear assembly. This system further includes a magnetic sensor and a communication module. The magnetic sensor is disposed proximate the aperture and is configured to sense a magnetic response indicative of the locking pin being disposed within the aperture. The magnetic sensor is configured to generate a sensor output indicative of the locking pin being disposed within the aperture. The communication module has a transmitter coupled to the magnetic sensor so as to receive the sensor output and is configured to responsively transmit a signal indicative of the locking pin being disposed within the aperture.

Downwash blocking apparatus for air mobility

The present invention relates to a downwash blocking apparatus of air mobility configured such that multi-stage guide shells configured for blocking downwash and guiding the downwash to a discharge portion of a vertiport are mounted to a rotor guide of a flying vehicle for air urban mobility to be movable upwards and downwards, whereby it is possible to prevent the downwash from affecting passengers at the time of boarding and deboarding, and therefore it is possible to solve passenger inconvenience at the time of boarding and deboarding.

Controlled energy absorption of seats for impact

Controlled energy absorption of seats for impact is described herein. One disclosed example method includes determining a weight of an occupant of a seat of an aircraft, and calculating, using a processor, a stroke load of a seat energy absorber operatively coupled to the seat based on the weight of the occupant. The example method also includes setting the seat energy absorber to the calculated stroke load.
