Tracking a moving sports object in varied environmental conditions
11573082 · 2023-02-07 · ·

Systems, methods and computer-readable media are provided for determining an effective altitude in relation to a moving sports object. In some examples, a method includes determining respective values for an air temperature, an air pressure, and a relative humidity of an environment of interest. Based on the determined respective values of the air temperature, the air pressure, and the relative humidity, an air density for the environment of interest is calculated to derive a first air density value. A second air density value is derived for a reference environment. An absolute value of a difference between the first and second air densities is compared against a preset comparison value and, based on the comparison being equal to or smaller than the preset comparison value, an output including an indicator of the effective altitude is generated.

A sporting weight system couplable to a sporting device. The sporting weight system including a plurality of shaped weight portions and at least one fastener. The at least one fastener is configured to couple the plurality of shaped weight portions together about a shaft portion of the sporting device.

Methods and systems to track a moving sports object trajectory in 3D using a single camera

Systems and methods are described for generating a three-dimensional track a ball in a gaming environment from a single camera. In some examples, an input video including frames of a ball moving in a gaming environment recorded by a camera may be obtained, along with a camera projection matrix associated with at least one frame that maps a two-dimensional pixel space representation to a three-dimensional representation of the gaming environment. Candidate two-dimensional image locations of the ball across the plurality of frames may be identified using a neural network or a computer vision algorithm. An optimization algorithm may be performed that uses a 3D ball physics model, the camera projection matrix and a subset of the candidate two-dimensional image locations of the ball to generate a three-dimensional track of the ball in the gaming environment. The three-dimensional track of the ball may then be provided to a user device.

VIRTUAL GOLF DEVICE AND VIRTUAL SPORTS DEVICE

The present invention relates to a virtual golf device and a virtual sports device. The virtual sports device comprises a play area in which a user who plays virtual sports is located, a display area in which a content image is displayed, and an image providing unit for projecting the content image onto the display area to provide the content image to the user.

Ball-projecting batting tee
11612800 · 2023-03-28 ·

The ball-projecting batting tee comprises a support base, a support column, and a remote control. The ball-projecting batting tee may be a batting practice aid that may be placed on top of home plate and may pneumatically project a ball upwards from the top of the support column to simulate a pitch. The ball-projecting batting tee may be adapted to project the ball upwards under the control of a coach using the remote control. As non-limiting examples, the ball may be a baseball or a whiffle ball. A directional cover located at the top of the support column may pivot to direct the ball towards first base or towards third base to simulate outside and inside pitches.

Baseball/softball hitting training device
11607595 · 2023-03-21 ·

The baseball/softball hitting training device includes a base, a frame body, and a ball suspension system. The ball suspension system is supported by the frame body. The frame body includes a vertical stem portion and an offset portion. An upwardly-projecting arm of the vertical stem and a downwardly-projecting arm of the offset portion define a vertical axis between them. The ball suspension system is supported between the upwardly-projecting arm and downwardly-projecting arm, with the ball held vertically intermedially via a tether in alignment with the vertical axis and positioned to allow the player to practice hitting. In some aspects, a height-adjustment mechanism and/or additional coupling assemblies are also disclosed. The tethered-ball training device can optionally be converted to a tee-ball training device.

Knob sleeve for a ball bat handle assembly

A knob sleeve assembly for a ball bat extending along a longitudinal axis and having a tubular handle portion and a knob attached the handle portion. The knob sleeve assembly includes a plurality of annular bodies formed of a resilient material. Each of the bodies defines a central opening for receiving the handle portion of the bat. Each of the bodies has an annular body height within the range of 0.25 to 1.0 inch, and a maximum annular body outer diameter within the range of 1 to 3 inches. The plurality of annular bodies varies from one another according to at least one annular body characteristic. The knob sleeve characteristic is selected from the group consisting of annular body height, maximum annular body outer diameter, weight, color, material durometer value, annular body draft angle and combinations thereof.

Bat with tunable insert

A tunable insert is provided that may be placed within a baseball/softball bat at or near its sweet spot. The insert may allow for fine tuning of the bat's compressive strength, and thus the bat's performance. Two opposing inner sleeves may be received within a tapered inner core and may be drawn together with a threaded fastening member. When the inner sleeves are pulled together, the insert segments are pushed outward. The segmented outer piece of the insert may be directly in contact with a ring member or inner barrel that is positioned between the barrel and the tunable insert. When torque is applied to the threaded fastener, the segmented outer piece expands, thus also expanding the ring member. As the ring member expands, it gets nearer to the bat's inner surface. The relative distance of the ring member to the bat's inner surface tunes the stiffness of the bat.
