SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR MOBILE TOWING AND LIFTING PLATFORMS
20240059415 · 2024-02-22 ·

A mobile towing and lifting system and associated methods, comprising a retractable tug, coupled to an aerial vehicle, wherein the tug is configured to transfer electrical power and data to and from the aerial vehicle. The aerial vehicle may comprise an airship, multirotor aircraft, fixed wing aircraft, buoyant aircraft or a combination of the like. The mobile towing and lifting system may be applied to wireless charging, and aerial logistics applications.

Rotorcraft-assisted system for launching and retrieving a fixed-wing aircraft into and from free flight

A rotorcraft-assisted system configured to launch a fixed-wing aircraft into flight comprising a fixed-wing aircraft and an aircraft launch apparatus where the aircraft launch apparatus comprises a mechanism for attaching the rotorcraft to the fixed-wing aircraft, such as a saddle that removably engages the wing or wings of the fixed-wing aircraft.

MULTICOPTER WITH SELF-ADJUSTING ROTORS
20240045446 · 2024-02-08 ·

During a vertical landing state, it is decided whether to switch from the vertical landing state to a self adjusting state. The VTOL vehicle includes the flight controller, the rotor, and a fuselage where the rotor is coupled to the fuselage via a vertical connector. If it is so decided, there is a switch from the vertical landing state to the self adjusting state. During the self adjusting state, a control signal for a rotor is generated where the control signal causes: (1) the rotor to rotate during the self adjusting state and (2) the VTOL vehicle to remain in a fixed position during the self adjusting state, in response to the control signal, and independent of docking infrastructure. During a rotors off state, a rotor off control signal is generated for the rotor that causes the rotor to turn off.

Multicopter-assisted system and method for launching and retrieving a fixed-wing aircraft

The present disclosure provides various embodiments of a multicopter-assisted launch and retrieval system generally including: (1) a multi-rotor modular multicopter attachable to (and detachable from) a fixed-wing aircraft to facilitate launch of the fixed-wing aircraft into wing-borne flight; (2) a storage and launch system usable to store the modular multicopter and to facilitate launch of the fixed-wing aircraft into wing-borne flight; and (3) an anchor system usable (along with the multicopter and a flexible capture member) to retrieve the fixed-wing aircraft from wing-borne flight.

LAUNCH AND/OR RECOVERY FOR UNMANNED AIRCRAFT AND/OR OTHER PAYLOADS, INCLUDING VIA PARACHUTE-ASSIST, AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS

Launch and/or recovery for unmanned aircraft and/or other payloads, including via parachute-assist, and associated systems and methods are disclosed. A representative method for lofting a payload includes directing a lifting device upward, releasing a parachute from the lifting device, with the parachute carrying a pulley and having a flexible line passing around the pulley. The flexible line is connected between a tension device (e.g., a winch) and the payload. The method further includes activating the tension device to reel in the flexible line and accelerate the payload upwardly.

An aerial vehicle barrier comprises two or more balloons selectively inflatable with a lighter-than-air gas, two or more flexible trunk lines, two or more flexible branch lines, and two or more connecting lines. Each trunk line has a ground-anchorable end and an opposite end attached or selectively attachable to a respective one of the balloons. Each branch line has opposing ends attached or selectively attachable to respective ones of two adjacent trunk lines to span between the two adjacent trunk lines. Each connecting line has opposing ends attached to respective ones of two adjacent branch lines.
