An unmanned rotorcraft has a lift module having a propulsion system and coaxial rotors driven in rotation by the propulsion system. The rotorcraft includes a payload support system adapted to couple an external payload directly to the lift module. The rotorcraft is devoid of provisions for human passengers.

TRIAXIAL HELICOPTER
20180304996 · 2018-10-25 ·

A triaxial helicopter includes a fuselage and an airframe, and three rotor modules and a driving source are installed to the airframe, and two turbofans are mounted at the tail of the airframe, and the horizontal elevator is installed between the two turbofans and coupled to the driving source through a link rod module, so that when the triaxial helicopter is operated, the two turbofans are operated to produce a backward airflow to assist propelling the triaxial helicopter to move forward, so as to improve the flying speed of the triaxial helicopter. When it is necessary to ascend or descend the triaxial helicopter, the driving source controls the link rod module to adjust the yaw direction of the horizontal elevator according to an ascending or descending requirement, and the airflow produced by the turbofans blows in a direction with the horizontal elevator to increase the lifting force of the triaxial helicopter.

METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR REDUCING ENERGY CONSUMED BY DRONES DURING FLIGHT

Methods and apparatus for reducing energy consumed by drones during flight are disclosed. A drone includes a housing, a motor, and a route manager to generate a route for a flight of the drone based on wind data. The wind data includes turbine-generated wind data provided by turbines that detect airflows received at the turbines. The turbines are located in an area within which a segment of the flight of the drone is to occur. The route is to be followed by the drone during the flight to reduce energy consumed by the drone during the flight.

FLYING WING VERTICAL TAKE-OFF AND LANDING AIRCRAFT
20180281942 · 2018-10-04 ·

A flying wing vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft is provided and includes an empennageless-fuselage from which foldable wings extend outwardly, an empennageless-nacelle supported on each of the wings and a rigid rotor propeller disposed on each empennageless-nacelle, each of the propellers being drivable to rotate about only a single rotational axis defined along a longitudinal axis of the corresponding empennageless-nacelle and being fully cyclically controllable.

Satellite refueling

A satellite refueling system has a refueling satellite carrying fuel, a fuel hose connected to the fuel carried by the refueling satellite, with a maneuverable end effector at a deployed end of the fuel hose, the end effector comprising a fuel supply nozzle connected to the fuel hose, a plurality of thrusters on the end effector providing thrust in a plurality of directions, an imaging device on the end effector capturing images in an immediate environment of the end effector, and computerized circuitry operating individual ones of the plurality of thrusters in response to the images captured by the imaging device. The refueling satellite deploys the fuel hose, and the computerized circuitry operates the thrusters to maneuver the end effector, bringing the fuel supply nozzle to a location to deliver fuel.

Aircraft winch cable stabilizer

A stabilizing system for a cable has a cable deployed and suspended from a helicopter, a cargo support attached at a deployed end of the cable, an end effector attached to the cable, the end effector comprising thrusters directed in a plurality of directions orthogonal to a vertical axis of the cable, first control circuitry in the helicopter, and second control circuitry in the end effector. Thrust of individual thrusters is controlled through the first and second control circuitry maintaining the axis of the cable vertical, damping swinging of the cable.

Geometric control envelope system and method for limiting commands to actuator mapping function

A vehicle and method of control comprising generating a geometric control envelope in a geometric space of operation points defined by a number of control aspects, the envelope having vertices representing maximum values of the control aspects, and determining a desired operation point in the geometric space representing a control input. Further, the method includes if the desired operation point is outside the envelope, scaling up a first one of the control aspects by a first factor, determining an effective operation point in the envelope geometrically closest to the desired operation point, scaling down all of the control aspects by a second factor inverse of the first factor, and instructing the propulsion mechanisms to propel the vehicle according to the effective operation point.

The multi-axis amphibious copter includes six propulsion points i.e., four propellors oriented vertically, a coaxial rotor oriented vertically, and a mini turbine thruster on the rear of the aircraft body and configured to propel the multi-axis amphibious copter forward. The multi-axis amphibious copter can land and take off vertically from congested places and can fly at cruising speeds.

Distributed Propulsion System for Vertical Take Off and Landing Closed Wing Aircraft

An aircraft comprises a fuselage, first and second wing segments each having a leading edge and a trailing edge, a plurality of spokes coupling the fuselage to the first and second wing segments, one or more motors disposed within or attached to the plurality of spokes, and three or more propellers proximate to a leading edge of the plurality of spokes, distributed along the plurality of spokes, and operably connected to the motors to provide lift whenever the aircraft is in vertical takeoff and landing and stationary flight and provide thrust whenever the aircraft is in forward flight. When the aircraft is in vertical takeoff and landing and stationary flight, the fuselage is approximately vertical. When the aircraft is in forward flight, the fuselage is approximately in the direction of the forward flight and extends forward beyond the leading edges of the first wing segment and the second wing segment.
