11759691 · 2023-09-19 · ·

The present invention is a tethered resistance swim training apparatus with a pulley that includes an electronic tachometer to measure the rotations of the wheel of the pulley and strain gauge to measure the force pulling on the body of the pulley. The pulley, also referred to as “smart pulley”, can be implemented in many tethered swim training apparatuses of different arrangements. With the tachometer and strain gauge the power and other performance metrics can be calculated while a swimmer is using the apparatus. A load cell or similar can be used in place of a strain gauge. The sensors may be connected via wired or wireless communications to a computer (tablet, laptop, personal computer, server, or the like) for processing of the signals and display on an electronic display.

This invention is a simple method to play a one-on-one underwater goal-scoring sport together with the pertinent field of play, the projectile and the goal apparatus. While underwater, one offensive player throws the projectile toward the underwater goal apparatus defended by a defending player who tries to tag out the offensive player before they can throw, or who tries to prevent the projectile from touching the goal area. Variations to the projectile and the goal apparatus are also described as options for use in the sport.

Methods and systems for swim analysis

Automatic swimming analysis and nearly immediate feedback on a user device is disclosed. A sensor placed on a swimmer's waistline instantaneously measures data of the swim, allows to upload this data to a cloud system performing immediate analysis using algorithms. The cloud system provides feedback which helps determine proper (or improper) swimming techniques, comparing patterns to own past swims or to professional swimmers. The sensor enables stroke improvement with output including graphs, single numerical values, and detailed single-stroke data. The output provides both easy to understand metrics for amateur swimmers as well as more technical analysis options for advanced users. Metrics for amateurs can include swim symmetry analysis, speed consistency analysis, and stroke consistency analysis. More technical/detailed information includes comparison of strokes of each arm to the other, comparison of strokes made by left and right arms, mathematical analyses of strokes, and average, maximum, minimum, and instantaneous speeds.
