Hypoxia training device
The present invention includes a device for hypoxia training comprising: one or more electrochemical cells each comprising: a cathode and an anode separated by a proton exchange membrane, each of the anode and cathode in communication with an input and an output, wherein the input of the cathode is in fluid communication with ambient air, and wherein the input of the anode is in fluid communication with a source of liquid water; a power supply connected to the one or more electrochemical cells; and a mask in fluid communication with the output from the cathode of the one or more electrochemical cells, wherein oxygen is removed from the ambient air during contact with the cathode when hydrogen ions separated from liquid water by a catalyst on the anode convert oxygen in the ambient air into water.
System for unweighting a user and related methods of exercise
The invention comprises a differential air pressure exercise system, comprising: a base; a pair of uprights on the base dividing the base into a front portion and a rear portion; a bulkhead extending between and vertically moveable relative to the uprights; a right arm and a left arm attached to the bulkhead extending from the bulkhead towards the base rear portion; a chamber support frame coupling element on the right arm and on the left arm; a hinge coupled to the bulkhead between the left and right arms; a chamber support frame extending between the left and right arms and coupled to the hinge to move between an engaged condition and a lowered condition.
Body lift-assist walker device
The present invention provides a body lift-assist walker device for gait training is provided by the invention. The patient wears a pressurized body suit over all or a portion of his lower body, and the suit is attached to the walker device. A positive pressure or vacuum condition is applied to the interior of the suit, so that the differential pressure condition across the suit offloads a portion of the patient's body weight to the ground through the supportive walker device to make it easier for him to walk or run. The walker device also includes a lift-assisted body weight support device operated by a constant force mechanism like a pneumatic air cylinder that can lift the patient from a sitting position to a standing position with minimal physical effort. The device provides a portable and convenient system for persons undergoing physical therapy for treatment of gait or balance problems following an injury, stroke, or neurological disorder, or for use by elderly or disabled persons who have encounter difficulties in the sit-to-stand movement or walking.
Hypoxia training device
The present invention includes a device for hypoxia training including a breathable gas source; a mask in fluid communication with the breathable gas source; a mask-state detector that uses one or more criteria to determine if the mask is being worn by a subject, wherein the mask-state detector is capable of communicating an indication of a mask-off state or a mask-on state; a flowmeter in fluid communication with the mask and coupled to the mask-state detector; and a pressure regulator in fluid communication with the mask and with the breathable gas source, and coupled to the mask-state detector, wherein the pressure regulator sets a first pressure at the mask when the mask-state detector communicates an indication of a mask-off state or a second pressure at the mask when the mask-state detector communicates an indication of a mask-on state.
Suspension and body attachment system and differential pressure suit for body weight support devices
A differential pressure body suit with external support against body suit migration. In its preferred embodiment, such body suit may comprise a close-fitting, multi-layered suit sealed against a mammal's skin to contain the differential pressure, or a looser-fitting suit that bends at the mammal's joints with minimal force. External support structure includes either fixed or movable mechanical supports attached to the body suit, extraordinary air pressure levels for making the body suit rigid, or exoskeletons attached to the body suit, or a counter-force adjustment cable suspension system. A cyclic control system can turn the differential pressure condition within the body suit on and off on a selective basis to accommodate the movement of the legs of the mammal. This differential pressure body suit provides a portable and convenient system for, e.g., rehabilitating a skeletal joint injury or training the mammal for injury prevention or athletic performance or fat burning. The pressurization reduces the weight of the body to greater or lesser extents, and offloads the weight to the ground through the external support means.

System and method for exerting a gradient of compressive forces on a body
The disclosure describes a system and a method for applying a gradient of external compressive forces on the body of a person, in a manner analogous to how water exerts hydrostatic forces on the body of a person immersed in water. According to an embodiment, the system may be a chair or a suit and is applicable for effecting physiological changes in the body such as increased diuresis and/or amniotic fluid levels, preeclampsia treatment in pregnant women, reduced hypertension, shift in fluids from interstitial space into intravascular compartment, increased venous return from lower extremities, reduced sympathetic tone and total peripheral resistance, reduced work load on the heart, reduced motion sickness, and the like.

Differential Air Pressure (OAP) System, Related Devices and Methods
A Differential Air Pressure (DAP) disguised as an amusement system is provided for motivating user participation in exercise session activities of the DAP system. The DAP system has a support platform with a treadmill integrated therein, and includes an inflatable enclosure secured at a base end to the support platform that extends upward therefrom in an inflated state to a vertical height for the exercise session, which has shape features corresponding with the amusement system disguise. A restraint securely connected to the support platform at a base portion and connected to a top opening defined through an upper region of the inflatable enclosure restrains the top opening at a vertical height in an inflated state. A control computer controls the DAP system to perform operations corresponding with the disguised appearance and further include operations for at least partially unweighting the user for the exercise session.
