An assembly of stacked mattresses and a method for preparing such an assembly are provided. The assembly of stacked mattresses comprises a first pallet, a second pallet, a plurality of mattresses positioned between the first pallet and the second pallet and straps coupling the first pallet to the second pallet, the plurality of mattresses being in a compressed state between the first pallet and the second pallet and the straps restraining expansion of the plurality of mattresses. The second pallet is comprised of a supporting member and a plurality of elongated reinforcing members extending across the supporting member, at least some of the reinforcing members including respective strap guiding members extending longitudinally along the elongated reinforcing member. At least some of the straps engage respective ones of the strap guiding members of the plurality of elongated reinforcing member of the second pallet so that displacement of the straps is constrained by the strap guiding members. In accordance with another aspect, a pallet for using in shipping bedding products is provided.

Extensible paper laminates and their uses

An extensible kraft paper laminate is disclosed that includes at least one layer of an extensible kraft paper and at least one layer of a non-extensible kraft paper and/or one or more additional layers of the extensible kraft paper. The extensible kraft paper can have a basis weight of 25-200 pounds per 3000 sq. ft. and the layers can be laminated. The extensible kraft paper laminate can have a thickness of 0.500 inches or less and can exhibit a mullen of at least 125 psi. Some non-limiting uses for these extensible kraft paper laminates can include a sleeve, a reel wrap, a slip sheet, a carrying crate, a fiber drum, a food carton, a medical carton, a box for trash, a furniture back panel, a sheathing board, a military packaging box, and/or a variety of other packaging or storage devices.

Box spring packaging method and apparatus

Improved packaging materials for packaging multiple mattress spring cores together in a compressed stack, wherein the two ends of the stack are covered by end panels comprising a laminated paper stack panel that includes one or more layers of a stretchable paper called extensible kraft paper laminated together with a water soluble glue. The mattress spring cores are separated by an interleaving sheet comprising one layer of extensible kraft paper.

METHOD AND TOOL FOR PRODUCING STRAPPED PACKAGES

The invention relates to a method and to a tool for producing strapped packages, in which at least two articles (10) having deformable or flexible lateral surfaces are grouped and brought into a rectangular arrangement and kept together by at least one strapping band (26).

In the method, firstly deformation forces (18) are applied to at least one short side (20) of the group (12) of articles, which deformation forces act approximately uniformly on all articles (10) of the group (12) of articles. Subsequently, the strapping band (26) is placed on the group (12) of articles deformed in this manner, wherein an overall length of the strapping band (26) corresponds to or is minimally greater than an overall circumference of the group (12) of articles subjected to the deformation forces (18).

The deformation forces (18) acting on the group (12) of articles are then removed, as a result of which the lateral surfaces of the articles elastically return to their original shape and bring about a defined band tensioning of the strapping band (26).

The invention also relates to a tool for carrying out the method.
