An assembly of stacked mattresses and a method for preparing such an assembly are provided. The assembly of stacked mattresses comprises a first pallet, a second pallet, a plurality of mattresses positioned between the first pallet and the second pallet and straps coupling the first pallet to the second pallet, the plurality of mattresses being in a compressed state between the first pallet and the second pallet and the straps restraining expansion of the plurality of mattresses. The second pallet is comprised of a supporting member and a plurality of elongated reinforcing members extending across the supporting member, at least some of the reinforcing members including respective strap guiding members extending longitudinally along the elongated reinforcing member. At least some of the straps engage respective ones of the strap guiding members of the plurality of elongated reinforcing member of the second pallet so that displacement of the straps is constrained by the strap guiding members. In accordance with another aspect, a pallet for using in shipping bedding products is provided.

METHODS FOR COLLECTING, PACKAGING, AND PROCESSING RECYCLABLE WASTE

Recyclable waste byproducts are efficiently collected for recycling at stores or other locations by compacting the recyclable waste as layers in a composite bale. The composite bales can be formed using existing cardboard balers that retailers or other stores typically already have for baling recyclable cardboard. In one embodiment, the composite bales are formed by binding together a layer of one type of recyclable waste and a layer of recyclable waste that includes one or more types of recyclable waste byproducts. The layered structure can be modified to omit one of the layers or to add additional waste byproduct layers.

STACKING AND STRAPPING SYSTEM FOR LUMBER PACKAGES

A lumber stacking and strapping system can provide a single-station solution for both lumber stacking and package strapping. In addition, the package strapping system may apply multiple straps simultaneously to the package. For example, a package stacking and strapping system can provide not only a mechanism for formulating a package of lumber one layer at a time, but also a mechanism for lowering a completed package directly into a compression and strapping station, such as using the lumber stacker package accumulation hoist. The stacking and strapping system can then simultaneously apply strapping around the package in multiple positions along the length of the package, with bottom battens and top corner protectors further supplied and strapped into place as desired. A method for stacking and strapping a package in a single location is also provided.
