The invention provides a process for producing a pack of smoking articles, such as cigarettes, which comprises: assembling packaging material, such as a packaging blank, around a charge of smoking articles to form a pack enclosing the charge smoking articles. The assembled pack includes a container portion to hold the charge of smoking articles, a lid in hinged connection with the container portion which is movable between a closed position for preventing access to the smoking articles in the container portion and an open position for accessing the smoking articles, and a magnetic closure having a first magnetic closure element and a second magnetic closure element which are configured and arranged to exert a magnetic force for holding the lid in the closed position. The process for producing the pack includes placing the first and second magnetic closure elements together or in combination with one another in the packaging material that forms the pack.

The invention provides a process for producing a pack of smoking articles, such as cigarettes, which comprises: assembling packaging material, such as a packaging blank, around a charge of smoking articles to form a pack enclosing the charge smoking articles. An improved cigarette package is provided. The cigarette package first includes a container which serves as a housing for two or more compartments, each compartment holding a plurality of cigarettes. The package also includes a lid which is hingedly connected to the container at an upper end. Opening and closing the lid provides selective access and closure to the container. The inner compartments each include a compartment tab that allows for opening and re-sealing of the respective inner compartments. Thus, a dual-compartment cigarette package is provided wherein the compartments may be independently opened and re-sealed. The configuration allows for selective opening of a single compartment while preserving the factory seal on the unopened compartment so that freshness and aromatic oils of the cigarettes within the package are preserved, even after opening of the package and compartments.

A container (10) for consumer goods, the container comprising: an outer housing comprising a box portion (12), a lid portion (14) moveable between a closed position and an open position, and a hinged connector (16) connecting the box portion (12) and the lid portion (14); a plurality of consumer goods (20) received within the box portion (12); and an inner frame (18) slidably received within the outer housing and positioned between the plurality of consumer goods (20) and the box portion (12). The inner frame (18) is slidable between a lowered position and a raised position and comprises an inner frame front wall (36), an inner frame back wall (38), opposed inner frame side walls and a lifting element (48), depending from the bottom edge of a wall of the inner frame (18) and extending into the opening at the bottom end of the inner frame. At least part of the lifting element (18) is positioned between a box portion bottom wall and the consumer goods. The lid portion (14) depends along a first hinge line (30) from the hinged connector and along a second hinge line (44) from the inner frame (18) so that the inner frame (18) slides between the lowered position and the raised position as the lid portion (14) moves between the closed position and the open position.

A container (10) for consumer goods, the container comprising: an outer housing comprising a box portion (12), a lid portion (14) moveable between a closed position and an open position, and a hinged connector (16) connecting the box portion (12) and the lid portion (14); a plurality of consumer goods (20) received within the box portion (12); and an inner frame (18) slidably received within the outer housing and positioned between the plurality of consumer goods (20) and the box portion (12). The inner frame (18) is slidable between a lowered position and a raised position and comprises an inner frame front wall (36), an inner frame back wall (38), opposed inner frame side walls and a lifting element (48), depending from the bottom edge of a wall of the inner frame (18) and extending into the opening at the bottom end of the inner frame. At least part of the lifting element (18) is positioned between a box portion bottom wall and the consumer goods. The lid portion (14) depends along a first hinge line (30) from the hinged connector and along a second hinge line (44) from the inner frame (18) so that the inner frame (18) slides between the lowered position and the raised position as the lid portion (14) moves between the closed position and the open position.

A packaging system configured to hold objects therein may include a tray that includes a cavity and a set of lugs on an inner surface of the cavity. A first object may be located within the cavity, where the first object is isolated from simultaneously engaging each lug in the set of lugs. A flexible object may be at least partially located within the cavity. The flexible object may be bent and engaged against the set of lugs, such that the flexible object is held in place at least partially within the cavity by the set of lugs and the first object is held within the cavity by the flexible object.

A system for printing on a printable portion of a liner for a package to receive smoking articles includes a package assembler configured to receive an outer blank and fold the outer blank around the liner to create the package. The liner comprises a material configured to absorb ink and a front surface, the front surface configured to be seen by a user when the package is open. The liner also includes a printable portion positioned on the front surface, the printable portion configured to receive ink. The system further comprises a printer coupled to the package assembler, the printer configured to dispense the ink on the printable portion when the package is in an at least partially assembled state.

A cigarette pack in the form of a sealing pack consisting of an inner pack in the form of a foil block and an outer pack in the form of a hinge-lid box. An opening aid of the foil block is provided with a removal opening which is formed as an open recess as a result of punching during the production of a blank for the foil block, in particular in the region of a continuous foil web. Said removal opening, which is free right from the start, is closed by a closure tab which is able to be opened and closed multiple times on account of a corresponding glue connection. The closure tab is preferably connected permanently to the inside of a lid front wall of the outer pack by means of an actuating tab.

A packaging machine (1) for forming packets (3) of smoking articles (2), in particular cigarettes, comprises movement means for moving groups of smoking articles at least partially wrapped by an inner wrapping sheet (4), along a movement direction, a wrapping wheel (13) to receive the groups of smoking articles wrapped by the inner wrapping sheet (4) and to move them along a substantially circular wrapping path (P), and transfer means (22) to transfer the groups of smoking articles wrapped by the inner wrapping sheet (4) from the movement means to the wrapping wheel. The transfer means (22) transfer the groups of smoking articles wrapped by the inner wrapping sheet (4) along a transfer direction (T) radial with respect to the wrapping path (P), in order to reduce the bulk of the packaging machine (1).
