A substantially rectangular, flexible foam-filled cushion, consists of three substantially rectangular, hingeably connected segments: a longest upper segment, which is configured to align with and support a user's upper torso, a shorter middle segment, which is configured to align with and support a user's pelvis/buttocks and upper legs, and a shortest lower segment, which is configured to align with and support a user's lower legs. From the top of the upper segment extends an elastic resistance cord. From the bottom of the lower segment extend two elastic resistance ankle straps and an elastic foot strap. The thickness and flexibility of the cushion are adapted to provide both resistance to bending of the cushion and support for the portion of the user's body engaged with the cushion during bending. Therefore, the cushion is adapted to play an active role in the exercise movements, along with its appended resistance bands. The cushion's ability to move cooperatively with the exercise movements is enhanced by the alignment of its hinges with the body's principal bending locations in the waist/lower back and knees.

An accelerometer positioned in the housing is configured to provide data about the movement of the pedal to a microcontroller. A wireless communication chip positioned in the housing is used to transmit the data about the movement of the pedal to a remote device via the wireless communication chip. The remote device is programmed to receive, display and track the data about the movement of the pedal.

The game controller also includes a feedback control system responsive to at least one of a motion parameter, a force parameter, and/or a position parameter of each of the plurality of appendicular members to control the game play of the electronic video game.

An auxiliary device for muscle strength training is provided, which includes: a base; a sliding member slidingly coupled to the base; and a connecting-rod mechanism connected to the base and the sliding member in such a way that a positional shift of the sliding member allows the connecting-rod mechanism to rotate relative to the base and change its state. As such, the auxiliary device has first and second configurations to assist patients who are incapable of controlling their muscles by themselves to effectively train specific muscle groups. Further, elastic members are connected to the base and the connecting-rod mechanism and provide elastic potential energies so as to keep the auxiliary device in static equilibrium. The auxiliary device has a simple structure and is easily manufactured at a low cost and applicable for patients with muscle strength lower than grade 3.

The inertial dynamics of the resulting motion are inherently kinesthetically pleasurable. The resistance is provided by the user's own body weight with variation through differential leverage. Alternatively, the configuration of the armrest handles is such that a user may benefit from an isometric exercise by simply holding them stationary in a conventional armrest position.
