INFLATABLE PACKAGING WITH VARIABLE TIE TEAR INITIATION FEATURES
An inflatable web is disclosed. The web includes a first and second film ply sealed together. The transverse seals define first and second inflatable chambers. The web defines a separation region extending at least partially between the first and second inflatable chambers in a substantially transverse direction across the web and configured to facilitate separation of the first and second inflatable chambers. The separation region includes a tear initiation feature that facilitates tearing of the web to separate the inflatable chambers. The separation region includes a tear propagation line including a first plurality of perforations perforation is separated from an adjacent perforation by a land having a first transverse length. A tear initiation feature includes a second plurality of perforations, each perforation separated from an adjacent perforation by a land having a second transverse length, where the first transverse length is longer than the second transverse length.
INFLATABLE PACKAGING WITH OFFSET TEAR INITIATION FEATURES
An inflatable web is disclosed. The web includes a first film and second film ply sealed together via a plurality of generally transverse seals. The transverse seals define first and second inflatable chambers. The inflatable chambers are inflatable with, and contain, a fluid. The web defines a separation region extending at least partially between the first and second inflatable chambers in a substantially transverse direction across the web and configured to facilitate separation of the first and second inflatable chambers. The separation region includes a tear initiation feature that facilitates tearing of the web to separate the first and second inflatable chambers. The separation region includes a tear propagation line at least partially longitudinally offset from the tear initiation feature, and close enough to the tear initiation feature that force imparted to the web via the tear initiation feature will tear of the web through the tear propagation line.
INFLATABLE PACKAGING WITH TEAR INITIATION FEATURE
An inflatable web is disclosed. The web includes first and second film plies sealed together via a plurality of generally transverse seals to define a first and second inflatable chambers and an inflation region. The chambers are inflatable with a fluid and operable to contain the fluid. The sealed plies have a first longitudinal edge and a second longitudinal edge. The web defines a separation region extending at least partially transversely across the web between the first and second inflatable chambers and is configured to facilitate separation thereof. The separation region includes a tear propagation line extending transversely across at least a portion of the web with an end of the tear propagation line terminating proximal to the first longitudinal edge of the web. The separation region includes a tear initiation feature including edges spaced apart from one another longitudinally to form a permanent opening in the web.
Packaging system for delivering consistent serving sizes of hard ice cream
A package for a frozen food includes a plurality of spherically-shaped portions of hard ice cream. A first sealing member at least partially conforms to the shape of each spherical portion of the plurality of spherically-shaped portions. A second sealing member is adhered to the first sealing member. The first and second sealing members cooperatively form a plurality of storage cavities. Each storage cavity selectively encloses a corresponding spherical portion of the plurality of spherically-shaped portions, wherein each corresponding spherical portion includes a concave depression.
METHOD OF DETERMINING THE VOLUME FLOW AND THE FILLING DEGREE AT A PACKAGING MACHINE
A method of operating a sealing station of a packaging machine for producing, in the case of possibly varying filling degrees, packages with at least substantially similar package appearances, the method comprising the execution of a comparison between a detected pressure curve and a reference pressure curve, and the calculation of a filling degree of the package positioned within the sealing station on the basis of the comparison between the detected pressure curve and the reference pressure curve, and/or the calculation of a volume flow with respect to the pressure curve or the reference pressure curve, and the setting of at least one process parameter at the packaging machine with due regard to the calculated filling degree and/or the volume flow.
Thermoform packaging machine and method
The present invention relates to a thermoform packaging machine as well as to a method for producing a skin pack, comprising the steps of preforming a skin film prior to a sealing station and subjecting it to a further forming step in the sealing station, so that the skin film can wrap around a product protruding far beyond a packaging trough.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR FORMING DUAL LAYER WATER SOLUBLE PACKETS
A method of forming dual layer water soluble packets includes drawing a base film into a cavity of a mold, drawing air through openings in the base film, metering an amount of a first product of a first color onto the base film in the cavity, metering an amount of a second product of a second color onto the amount of the first product, and, sealing a lid film to the base film.
Packaging machine and method
A modified atmosphere, skin or vacuum packaging machine comprising first feed means adapted for feeding a first film to the machine, second feed means adapted for feeding a second film to the machine, and a sealing station where the vacuum is formed and/or the modified atmosphere is introduced, and the second film is sealed to the first film to obtain a package. The machine comprises displacement means configured for moving at least the first film a driving distance from an initial position, holding down and driving at least the first film in the driving direction to an end position, said displacement means being configured for subsequently returning to the initial position when the machine is in operating mode.
Work station for a packaging machine
A work station for a packaging machine comprises a tool structure and a tool movable relative to the tool structure by means of a drive. The drive comprises at least one countermagnet which is operatively connectable to an electromagnet and movable relative to the electromagnet. The drive further comprises a mechanism by means of which the movement of the tool is unidirectionally coupled to the relative movement of the countermagnet relative to the electromagnet.
Method and apparatus for vacuum packaging a product
A method and apparatus for vacuum packaging a product. According to one embodiment a film tube is generated, and, in the film tube a product (P) is introduced and at least one cut is made. In the method, a vacuum may also applied inside the film tube, and a transverse seal is formed therein, a film tube closed at one end being obtained upstream of the cut and a package closed at both ends being obtained downstream. Furthermore, the film tube is transversely pinched, a portion the inside of the film tube which is isolated from the inside of the rest of the film tube being obtained, and a chamber is demarcated around at least part of said portion, the vacuum being applied and the transverse sealing operation being performed inside said chamber.
