HYBRID METHOD FOR PROCESSING CONTAINERS

One embodiment of the present invention provides a method for processing plastic containers within an open aseptic converter chamber comprising a sanitized environment, a supply line, a sanitizer device, a perforator device, a sealing device, and a conveyer. During operation, the method includes: providing and filling a container with heated or heatable liquid including water; sealing the container with a seal or cap; cooling the container to create a first headspace pressure; enclosing the container within the chamber; creating an opening in the seal or cap within a sanitized environment of the perforator device; increasing the first headspace pressure to a second headspace pressure by introduction of a sanitized fluid; resealing the container within a sanitized environment of the sealing device; and, transporting or conveying the sealed container away from the chamber.

A method for tightness control of a filling-sealing unit (1) for containers (9) is described. According thereto, a pressure chamber formed at the filling-sealing unit is sealed by way of a first seal around a sealer that is movable therein and by way of a second seal around a pressure supply that is movable therein. According to the invention, a third seal formed for sealing the pressure chamber around a container neck finish is sealed from the outside with an attachment, a positive pressure and/or negative pressure is generated in the pressure chamber, the pressure line used for this purpose is closed, and then a pressure profile in the pressure chamber is measured. This allows a leakage to be selectively detected at the first and/or second seal and be distinguished from a leak at the third seal.

Disclosed is a steam sterilizer, and a single use/disposable container for use in the steriliser and a sterilisation method. The container is a rigid or semi-rigid container having a sealable elongate conduit through which steam sterilant may be introduced into the container and steam sterilant and condensate may be removed from the container. Once one or more items to be sterilised are placed in the container a cover is sealed over the mouth of the container. The steam steriliser has a sterilisation chamber adapted to receive the container and provide sterilant within and around the container. Sterilant is provided to the container via the conduit which is sealed at the end of the sterilisation process.

The present disclosure is directed to a compression belt for inflation and sealing devices. The device may include an inflation assembly, a heating assembly, and a drive mechanism. The inflation assembly may direct fluid between first and second overlapping plies of a flexible web material to inflate chambers between the plies. The heating assembly may be operable to heat the first and second plies of the web material to create a longitudinal heat seal that seals the fluid in the inflated chambers. The drive mechanism may drive the web material in a downstream direction. The drive mechanism may tension the web material against the heating assembly. The drive mechanism may include a first belt including a high grip material on a surface that contacts the web material to grip the web material during heating by the heating assembly.
