COMPACT PALLETIZER INCLUDING A SKELETON, SUBASSEMBLY, AND STRETCH WRAP SYSTEM

A compact palletizer including a skeleton, stretch wrap system, and a subassembly. Components of the skeleton are constructed of aluminum, which provides advantages over the prior art in terms of strength, rigidity, weight, and cost. The aluminum may be pre-tensioned or prestressed to provide these advantages. The subassembly is preferably mounted to the side of the skeleton. The compact palletizer is readily portable, and robotic elements of the compact palletizer do not need to be reprogrammed after transport, so installation time is substantially reduced compared with prior art palletizers. A compact stretch wrap system further allows for wrapping palletized products within the compact palletizer.

Strap channel having imbricate flaps

A strapping device for strapping packages, having a packing table via which the package is moved along a movement path through the device, having a strapping frame which is oriented transversely with respect to the movement path and through which the package passes during its movement through the device, having a strap channel which is open in the direction of the frame interior, is formed by the strapping frame and has at least two vertical channel legs which are arranged on both sides of the movement path of the package, and having a multiplicity of strap channel flaps which are secured on the strapping device channel so as to be moveable by way of an articulated leg and are provided with a covering leg which overlies approximately half of the channel opening in the direction of a strap channel longitudinal axis.

A shrink sleeve apparatus is disclosed herein that includes a shrink sleeve applicator, a downstream heat shrink station, and a horizontal conveyor having side-by-side rollers that have a circumscribing outer portion with at least one high traction segment and at least one low traction segment. A method of applying a shrink sleeve to an article is disclosed that includes providing a conveyor having rollers as disclosed herein, positioning the rollers such that low traction segments of the rollers support the article as it passes a shrink sleeve applicator, which applies a shrink sleeve. The high traction segments of the rollers do not interfere with sleeve application. As the conveyor moves the article and sleeve through a downstream heat shrink zone, the rollers are rotated so that the high traction segments contact the article and sleeve to assure rotation of the article and sleeve during heat shrink.
