SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SEALING A PLASTIC ENCLOSURE
A method and apparatus for sealing a plastic enclosure is provided. The apparatus includes a handle including elements pivotally coupled together at a first end. The apparatus also includes a heating element positioned along an inner surface of an element and connected to a power source where a longitudinal axis of the heating element is oriented parallel with a longitudinal axis of the element. Plastic material including first and second plastic layers is positioned at an interface between the second elements. Upon pivoting the first elements from an open position to a closed position the heating element increases a temperature at the interface to melt the plastic material and form a seal between the first and second plastic layers.
MODULAR STAND-ALONE ULTRASONIC SEALING SYSTEM
A modular stand-alone ultrasonic bag sealing system has an ultrasonic sealer assembly that utilizes a sonotrode, an anvil that are actuated together to form a bag seal in a bag configured therebetween. The system also has an integral control system that is physically configured on the housing of the system and runs a control software. The control software is configured to control the ultrasonic sealer assembly to close and open to seal bags. The controller may have a plurality of signal inputs for receiving input signals from a bag feeder assembly or from an auxiliary machine. The system may also have an integral bag feeder assembly that has an index roller for feeding a bag to the ultrasonic sealer assembly. The system is configured for quick integration into a process line and has versatility of communication through the control software and signal inputs and outputs.
Dual purpose seal head assembly, tray sealing system, and method therefor
A seal head assembly includes a plurality of heat seal plates defining a corresponding plurality of heating areas, each heat seal plate including a heating element to independently control the temperature of the corresponding heating area.
Systems with external heat-seal assembly height adjustment control and related seal assemblies
Packaging apparatus for producing encased products from flat-roll stock using an external user interface (i.e., a handle that is external to a housing holding the heat seal assembly that is attached to a horizontally oriented shaft that rotates a first gear in the housing to rotate an aligned second gear in the housing or an electronic control) that is attached to and/or in communication with (directly or indirectly) a heat-seal assembly with a heat-seal contact member, such as a heat-seal band, in the housing to allow a user to adjust a vertical height of the heat-seal assembly while the apparatus is operational and/or without requiring physical access to the interior of the housing.
Packaging machine having a process-controlled early start function
A packaging machine, comprising a control unit, a plurality of measuring devices and a plurality of working units for different processes. The control unit is functionally connected to the working units and the measuring devices. A work cycle at the packaging machine comprises at least a first functional process and a second functional process at one or at different working units, the second functional process starting later than the first functional process. The control unit may execute an early start for the second functional process of a working unit, when an actual process value of the preceding first functional process of the program sequence of one of the working units has not yet reached the respective target process value. The control unit may control the early start of the second functional process based on an approximation method for predetermining the temporal end of the first functional process.
Pouch with oxygen scavenger and method of forming pouch with oxygen scavenger
The pouch includes a pouch material defining an inner cavity, the pouch material includes a first polymer layer and a gas impermeable layer, the first polymer layer forms an inner surface of the inner cavity, a consumable item in the inner cavity, and an oxygen scavenger, the oxygen scavenger includes at least one active element dispersed within a matrix material, the oxygen scavenger is at least partially connected to the first polymer layer within the inner cavity, and the first polymer layer and the matrix material both include a first polymer material.
Horizontal pillow packing apparatus and horizontal pillow packing method
A horizontal pillow packing apparatus includes a center sealer configured to wrap a packing target object by bringing both end portions of a back surface of a belt-shaped film in a width direction into contact with each other and seal a center seal portion at which the both end portions of the back surface in the width direction are in contact with each other, and an end sealer configured to seal and cut both side portions of the belt-shaped film wrapping the packing target object in the width direction. The center sealer includes at least two pairs of heating rollers configured to nip and heat the center seal portion of the belt-shaped film wrapping the packing target object, and a pair of compression rollers configured to cool and compress, to bond the center seal portion, the center seal portion heated by the at least two pairs of heating rollers.
Apparatus and process for packaging a product
A process for packaging a product arranged on a support comprising unrolling a film, moving the film to a packaging assembly defining at its inside a packaging chamber, progressively moving a number of supports inside the packaging chamber of the packaging assembly, closing the packaging chamber with the film sheets held above the respective support, optionally causing one or both of: a gas withdrawal from the hermetically closed packaging chamber and gas injection of a gas mixture of controlled composition, heat sealing the film to said support, wherein the heat sealing uses one or more heaters having heating surfaces which are heated for discrete and short time periods only. An apparatus for performing the above process is also disclosed.
FOAM-IN-BAG SYSTEMS AND COMPONENTS THEREOF
A system includes a source, a detector, and a controller. The source is configured to emit electromagnetic energy toward two plies of film. A portion of the emitted electromagnetic energy is within a range of wavelengths. The detector is arranged to detect electromagnetic energy propagating away from the two plies of film. The detector detects electromagnetic energy within the range of wavelengths and generates signals indicative of intensity of detected electromagnetic energy. The controller controls operation of the foam-in-bag system based the signals from the detector. The film is transmissive of electromagnetic energy in the range of wavelengths. When dispensed between the two plies of film, one or both of foaming chemical precursors or foam formed from a reaction thereof is opaque to electromagnetic energy in the range of wavelengths.
FOAM-IN-BAG SYSTEMS AND COMPONENTS THEREOF
A system includes a dispenser, first and second feed lines, and heating zones. The dispenser dispenses a first chemical precursor and a second chemical precursor. The first feed line permits flow of the first chemical precursor from a first source to the dispenser. The second feed line permits flow of the second chemical precursor from a second source to the dispenser. The heating zones are located along the first and second feed lines. The heating zones include a first heating zone located around a first portion of the first feed line and a second heating zone located around a first portion of the second feed line. The first heating zone and the second heating zone are independently controllable to independently control temperature around the first portion of the first feed line and temperature around the first portion of the second feed line.
