MECHANICAL BRAKING SYSTEM FOR EXERCISE MACHINES
20220001233 · 2022-01-06 ·

A mechanical braking system for a high-incline treadmill utilizing a mechanical brake which may be used on its own or in combination with a traditional motor brake. The mechanical brake is generally mountable on a treadmill between or around the belt motor and the flywheel. Upon engagement of the brake, typically the brake engages the flywheel, the motor, or the axle in a way that effectively locks the axle, and thus the belt, in a fixed position.

COMPACT BALL LAUNCHING SYSTEM AND ASSOCIATED METHODS
20230321512 · 2023-10-12 · ·

This disclosure relates to a relatively compact smart ball launching system and associated methods for using the same. In various embodiments, the disclosed ball launching system may comprise a collapsible ball hopper that can store a larger number of balls while maintaining a relatively compact size. In certain embodiments, brushless motors may be used to improve power efficiency while allowing for accurate launch speeds and/or spins. In some embodiments, a pre-launch chamber may be included in a ball dispensing mechanism that may facilitate on-demand shots and/or power savings by shutting the ball launching system down when the ball hopper is empty. In further embodiments, the ball launching system may be controlled, at least in part, via a mobile device. In some implementations, the ball launching system may include and/or otherwise interface with a camera system to facilitate improved calibration and/or record user actions.

An apparatus comprising means configured to: determine, based on data representative of a current health state of a first user of a first exercise apparatus, settings for one or more exercise variables of the first exercise apparatus, wherein the settings are tailored to the first user's current health state; and provide the determined settings for configuration of the first exercise apparatus.

Device for Displaying in Response to a Sensed Motion
20230283111 · 2023-09-07 ·

A device includes a signaling means and a motion sensor, and logic for activating or controlling the signaling means in response to a sensed motion according to an embedded logic. The device may be used as a toy, and may be shaped like a play ball or as a handheld unit. It may be powered from a battery, either chargeable from an AC power source directly or contactless by using induction or by converting electrical energy from harvested kinetic energy. The embedded logic may activate or control the signaling means, predictably or randomly, in response to sensed acceleration magnitude or direction, such as sensing the crossing of a preset threshold or sensing the peak value. The visual means may be a numeric display for displaying a value associated with the count of the number of times the threshold has been exceeded or the peak magnitude of the acceleration sensed.

Position-based laser range finder

Techniques are provided for implementing a system for determining the range to a target object and orienting a map. In implementations, GPS data is used to determine the location of the system and an approximate distance from that location to the target. Based on the approximate distance, one or more parameters of operation of the system may be set. Modes of operation may be entered to further adjust parameters of operation. An optical pulse may then be projected at the target and its reflections collected and analyzed to calculate a distance measurement. A visual display may be adjusted based on the calculated distance estimate to the target.

A METHOD FOR OPERATING A MOTIVATION ENHANCING EXERCISE SYSTEM
20230149793 · 2023-05-18 ·

A method for operating a motivation enhancing exercise system includes an exercise device configured to be driven by an exercising user, a head mounted output device configured to output a visual and/or an audible output for an exercising user, and a processing unit. Movements of a movable part of the exercise device are measured by means of a first sensor unit mounted on the movable part, and movements of a head of the user are measured by means of a second sensor unit comprised in the head mounted output device. The processing unit determines an activity being performed by the exercising user, and generates an output signal for the head mounted output device, in accordance with the determined activity. The head mounted output device provides a visual and/or audible output for the exercising user in accordance with the output signal.
