WRAPPING MACHINE
A wrapping machine for wrapping a load with a plastic film includes a main frame with two supporting columns having upper portions interconnected by a beam, a supporting carriage slidingly supported by the main frame and moved along a working direction by first actuating device, a moving ring rotatably supported by the supporting carriage and rotatably driven by second actuating device around a wrapping axis parallel to the working direction, and an unwinding unit fixed to the moving ring and provided with a reel of film and rollers. The first actuating device includes a first actuator arranged to operate a driving shaft rotatably supported by the beam and provided with a driving pulley engaged to a flexible element connected to the supporting carriage. The driving pulley rotates with the driving shaft for moving the flexible element and therefore the supporting carriage along the working direction.
STRETCH WRAPPING MACHINE WITH VARIABLE FREQUENCY DRIVE TORQUE CONTROL
A method, apparatus and program product utilize a torque control algorithm constrained by a speed window to control the dispense rate of a packaging material dispenser when wrapping a non-cylindrical load with packaging material. In particular, a dispenser motor of the packaging material dispenser that is controlled by a VFD may be driven to maintain a substantially constant torque, while also constrained to operate within a speed window that is based at least in part on a rate of relative rotation between the packaging material dispenser and the load.
PRODUCT HANDLING AND PACKAGING SYSTEM
Embodiments of product handling systems facilitate transfer of individual product items from incoming bulk form into dedicated trays for inspection, sorting, selection, and packaging. Inspection may comprise interrogation of product items within a tray by electromagnetic (e.g., optical, hyperspectral) or other (e.g., physical, acoustic, gas sensing, etc.) techniques. Prior to packaging, product items disposed within the tray may be stored in a movable carousel responsible for controlling environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, illumination, ambient gases, product-to-product interactions, and/or others. Movement of product items from a carousel's transfer station to an outside staging position may be accomplished using robots and/or conveyor belts. Embodiments may allow rapid, low-cost consumer selection of specific individual product items based upon their accompanying metadata (e.g., source, identifier), in combination with the results of inspection (e.g., visual appearance). Embodiments may receive product items pre-packaged in tray format to expedite inspection, sorting, selection, and packaging.
STRETCH WRAPPING MACHINE WITH CURVE FIT CONTROL OF DISPENSE RATE
A method, apparatus and program product utilize curve fitting to control a dispense rate for a packaging material dispenser. Predicted demands at a plurality of rotational positions of a load relative to a packaging material dispenser may be used to generate one or more points to which a curve may be fit, such that dispense rates may be determined for rotational positions between those for which predicted demands have been determined using the curve.

WRAPPING APPARATUS AND METHOD
A wrapping apparatus for wrapping a load includes: a wrapper delivery apparatus rotatable around the load to be wrapped; an angular position sensor at least partially mounted to the wrapper delivery apparatus; and a wrapper delivery unit mounted to the wrapper delivery apparatus. The wrapper delivery unit has a servomotor, and a wrapper delivery unit controller in data communication with the angular position sensor and operatively connected to the servomotor. The wrapper delivery unit controller is configured to process data supplied by the angular position sensor and to control the servomotor based on the processed data.
Transportable container for bulk goods and method for forming the same
The packaging system forms a transportable container for bulk goods having stretch wrap that is spirally wrapped about a bottom support and bulk goods to define the transportable container. The stretch wrap contacts at least a portion of the bulk goods to squeeze and lock together the bulk goods. During filling, the bottom support of the transportable container lowers as the transportable container is formed to accommodate additional bulk goods. The stretch wrap is prestretched from a non-stretched state to a stretched state prior to disposing the wrap about a slip frame former in the stretched state. The wrap returns to its non-stretched state as it is disengaged from the slip frame former to squeeze and lock together the bulk goods disposed therein. The packaging system results in a transportable container that is optimally packed and shaped for the efficient filling of a truck for shipping.
