Equipment (100) for processing items intended for commercial and non-commercial distribution, said equipment comprising a conveyor belt (1) for transporting and/or moving said items, means (30) for applying individually a label onto each of said items, said equipment (100) being configured so that each label is generated by means (34) for generating individual labels based on the identification data of the associated or corresponding item.

Robotic labeling system and method of labeling packages

A robotic labeling system includes a package locating system, a package identification system having a scanning device configured to scan an identification tag on the package to identify an orientation of the package in the labeling station, and a label application system including a label printer and a label applicator. The label printer prints at least one label for the package. The label applicator includes a multi-axis robot having an arm movable in three-dimensional space. The label applicator has a portrait end effector coupled to the arm configured to transport the label from the label printer to the package in a portrait orientation. The label applicator has a landscape end effector coupled to the arm configured to transport the label from the label printer to the package in a landscape orientation. The label applicator is operated based on the orientation of the package in the labeling station as determined by the scanning device.

A high-speed print-and-apply label applicator includes a conveyor system, a control and monitoring system, a label web feeding assembly, a label printer and encoder system, and a tamp pad assembly driven by a linear motor having a shaft that is formed at least partially by a composite material. A flexible applicator may be secured to the leading edge of the tamp pad and extends at least partially over the generally horizontal surface.

Method to print and apply labels to products

The present application relates to a method and system for labeling one or more products such as packages transported along a conveyer, and more specifically to applying a label on a respective package by way of a vertically adjustable assembly positioned above the conveyor. The adjustable assembly includes at least a label printer and an applicator for printing and applying the label on a surface of the package on the conveyor.

SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR AUTOMATIC LABELING OF ARTICLES OF ARBITRARY SHAPE, SIZE AND ORIENTATION
20200039676 · 2020-02-06 · ·

The present disclosure provides an improved system and related methods for automating the sizing and labeling of articles of arbitrary shape, size and orientation, whether still or moving. The system comprises a detection and interrogation zone, one or more proximity sensors, one or more interrogation devices, a processor, a controller, a labeling device, and an electromechanical label applicator arm. Detection of an article by a proximity sensor triggers an interrogation device to interrogate the detection and imaging zone for one or more observable properties when the article is located therein. Analysis of the interrogation data yields the height of the article. Combined with a conveyor rate, article height determines the signals sent to the controller, which commands when and how far a label applicator arm should extend from the labeling apparatus to label the article.

Robotic product labeling system

A system moves items, like containers and/or pallets, through a label printing station. The station has a label printer that prints adhesive labels; and a robot arm terminating at a movable end with a suction pad or vacuum device and sensors. The station has sensors configured to measure a height of the item; and a processor coupled to receive the height of the item, to control the robot arm and label printer, and to receive label information from a server. The processor has a memory containing code that computes desired label positions based on height of the container/pallet. A method of labeling an item includes printing an adhesive label with the label information obtained from a server; receiving the adhesive label on a suction pad or vacuum device attached to a movable end of a robot arm, and determining a first labeling position from measured height of the container/pallet.

An auto sort and label (ASL) system includes a conveyor, a controller, a sensor, and a label, print, and apply (LPA) system. The conveyor conveys articles through the ASL system. The sensor is positioned along the conveyor and identifies an article. The controller receives sensor data from the sensor. The LPA is positioned alongside the conveyor and prints labels in sequence with the corresponding article as it travels along the conveyor and applies the labels to the corresponding articles as the article passes the LPA. The controller controls the conveyor such that a gap and/or pitch between a first article and a second article is adjusted to an optimal distance to match the operation capability of the LPA. The controller verifies placement and contents of the label upon the article as defined by sensor data and accepts or rejects the labeled article for further handling based on the verification.
