Container assembly having a heat-sealed metal end, a metal end therefor, and a method for making same

A container assembly includes a container body having a side wall encircling an axis, and a metal end for attachment to an upper edge of the side wall via heat-sealing. The outer peripheral region is shaped prior to application to the container body such that an annular channel is defined between an inner chuck wall and an outer chuck wall of the metal end. The metal end is pushed straight onto the side wall such that the upper edge of the side wall is received into the channel. The surfaces of the side wall and the opposing surfaces of the chuck walls have heat-sealable material thereon. The metal end is heated to melt and fuse the heat-sealable layers, thereby sealing the metal end onto the side wall. The metal end is shaped such that the free edge of the outer chuck wall is not exposed.

COOKING METHOD AND APPARATUS

An ovenable cooking apparatus for facilitating the cooking of food components while maintaining the separateness thereof may include a first container for holding a first food component, and a second container for holding a second food component. The separation of the first food component from the second food component maintains the surface area for the first and second food components to facilitate heating of the first and second food components. The first food component may have a liquid based content for producing steam when heated, and one or both of the first container and the second container may define a passage for providing airflow and steam flow for contacting the second container and/or the second foodstuff and heating or steaming the second food component. Additionally, the second container may be steam impermeable for cooking bread and the like.

A plastic container (1) with a base (2) and mutually opposite side walls (3, 4) has reinforced corner portions (5) at each of its corners on the outside. The corner portions (5) are of double-walled design, an outer wall (6) extending upwards on the outside in each case from the level of the base (2) over part of the height of the side walls (3, 4). The double-walled corner portions (5) have cavities (7), which extend continuously from top to bottom and are subdivided by one or more ribs (8, 8′). The corner portions (5) formed with the continuous cavities (7) provide advantages in production by injection moulding, the core tools achieving a longer service life thanks to better heat dissipation. When the plastic containers (1) according to the invention are being cleaned with water, the continuous cavities (7) allow more hygienic cleaning, the water being able to drain out without any residues being left behind.

A storage device including at least one storage container provided with a container housing, which has a housing lower part and a housing cover swivellably mounted on the housing lower part in the region of the rear side. On the underside of its two lateral cover edge sections, the housing cover has a respective centring strip projecting downwards, wherein these centring strips protrude into the housing lower part when closing the housing cover in such a way that, via transverse support occurring relative to the housing lower part, they ensure that the housing cover is guided into a closed position that is centred relative to the housing lower part.

A stackable packaging unit comprises a molded tray including one or more compartments and a female feature. Additionally, the stackable packaging unit includes a cover attached to the molded tray and configured to cover at least a portion of at least one of the compartment(s) of the molded tray. The cover is made of folded paperboard or cardboard and includes a handle extending upward. The handle of the cover provides a male feature that is configured to fit within the female feature of a further one of the stackable packaging units that's stacked above the stackable packaging unit. The molded tray can be made of molded pulp, in which case the molded tray and the paperboard or cardboard from which the cover is made can both be recyclable. The molded tray and the paperboard or cardboard from which the cover is made can additionally or alternatively include postconsumer recycled material.

Tessellating blister packages for contact lenses

A blister package for a contact lens is provided that can be stacked with other blister packages of the same design. One example of the blister package has a body that includes a dome and a handle. A seal is attached to the top surface of the body and has a seal dome that seals a volume between the outer sidewall of the body dome and the inner sidewall of the seal dome. The handle has a through-hole and the through-hole that accommodates the outer sidewall of the seal dome. Another blister package provided has a handle and a bowl and the handle has a through-hole that accommodates the bowl outer surface. Stacks of blister packages are also provided as is secondary packaging for packaging stacks of tessellating blister packages.
