REAGENT WELL HAVING A CAPILLARY INSERT
A reagent well having a capillary insert that contains a lyophilized reagent therein.
Multi-well tray and rack therefore
System, apparatuses, and methods for performing automated reagent-based analysis are provided. Also provided are methods for automated attachment of a cap to a reaction receptacle, and automated removal of a cap from a capped reaction receptacle.
CLOSING ASSEMBLY FOR A BOTTLE, ASSOCIATED BOTTLE AND ASSEMBLY METHOD
A closing assembly for a bottle, the assembly including a cage, a closing stopper, and a ring nut. The cage includes a side wall with an inner surface including a bead and a lip spaced to form a seat for a collar of the bottle. Retaining teeth are provided for keeping a head of the closing stopper in position. An outer surface of the side wall of the cage includes an annular cavity and a side wall of the ring nut includes an inner lower projection configured to engage the annular cavity in a preassembly configuration. The cage further includes a plurality of windows. Each window includes a tongue connected to a lower edge of the window along a hinge line. The lip is formed at an upper end of each tongue and each tongue is rotatable elastically about the hinge line.
A STOPPER FOR CONTAINER
The present invention relates to a stopper made entirely or at least in part of plastic material, wherein the plastic material is a thermoplastic elastomeric polymer and includes a dispersion of activated carbon particles. The present invention also relates to a method to manufacture a stopper for a container by means of injection molding comprising: heating granules or pellets of plastic material until the granules or pellets become soft and flexible; adding activated carbon particles to the soft and flexible granules or pellets of plastic material; injecting the softened plastic into a mold, thereby obtaining a desired shape for the stopper; leaving the plastic material to cool until hardening; and opening the mold and removing the stopper.
REAGENT WELL HAVING A RETENTION FEATURE FOR RETAINING A LYOPHILIZED REAGENT
An article for performing a reaction includes a reagent well having a side wall, a bottom wall and an open upper end. A lyophilized reagent is retained within the well by a non-integral retention feature that is inserted into the open upper end of the well and fixed to a side wall above the reagent. An opening in the retention feature is smaller than a diameter of the reagent, but is sized to permit a pipette tip to be inserted into the well. The retention feature may be a collar fixed to the side wall and may include fingers extending axially into the well. The well and the retention feature may be correspondingly tapered. A method for reconstituting a lyophilized reagent includes the steps of drawing into a pipette tip attached to an automated pipettor an amount of a diluent and dispensing the diluent into the reagent well to thereby reconstitute the lyophilized reagent.
